All right, I think I have it fixed now.
The cam was changed to compcam p/n 07-466-8 (218 224 113* 570 565) 1800-5800 on the powerband, a 2500rpm stall converter. Since I have to get a chip for this setup I might as well go as "big" as possible with the cam, converter combo. I will deal with the differential gear ratio a little later. I wont be going to the track so no biggie, but yes I now know it will make the difference on the 1/4 mile. I will order the parts tomorrow. Thank you guys for your help. When its done pics n videos will follow.
ive bought a few converters in the past. Bought cheap and bought good. Anymore its a Vigilante or nothing
Friend had a digital temp gauge for his truck. Seemed to be a bit cooler according to the gauge vs ambient temp. 20 degrees cooler than a stock replacement TC. Not sure why the Vigilante ran cooler but there it is.
I have a 93 LT1 that has just returned from the machine shop... .30 over work done on the block, TFS 185 Cyl heades, comp cam 224 230 112* 503 510, 52mm TB, 30lbs injectors, msd opti with cables coil 6al2 and iridium plugs, shorty hooker headers, no cats, 10 series flomaster muffs with an X pipe where the resonator used to be. the 700r4 is in the shop for a rebuild, it has a B&M step2 shift kit. I will use the Vette as a daily driver/sleeper car. The topend kit is advertized to make 430HPs.... Ive been told to get a toque converter over 500 in the stall base on the cam that operates between 1800-5800rpm. So, will a 2200 stall be appropiate? Need help to make an informed desision. Thanks
On a street car I would not go over 2000 stall speed. Just for your Info Does your Vett run hot?? Because it will now with stall speed. Good Luck
ran a 2500 stall Vigilante in my grand national with no loss of street ability. Make sure you don't buy a cheap convertor though. If I remember right from back in the 90s when I had my first c4 lt1 the performance guys of the day recommended a 2200 stall for a good upgrade on a stock car. Might be a bit loose for your gears but if you insist on doing the convertor first it will probably be liveable until you do a gear swap.
