you had fuel pressure

you had spark

had the injectors been enabled it might run

shoot starting fluid into the air box, does it start momentarily

You can verify the status of the FED signal by doing the following.

Connect pin 4 or 5 both ground to pin 12 on the Diagnostic connector located above the drivers right knee. Turn the ignition On. The Speedometer LCD will display any trouble codes for the different
modules.

Module 1 CCM
Module 4 PCM
Module 9 ABS/TCS
Module A air bag

You will see 1.0 after the display stops.
Press the Trip/Odo button until you see 1.3
Press the Eng/Met button once. You should see 01
to the right of 01 you should see either a 0 or 1
A zero indicates pulsing of the injectors is disabled.
A one indicates pulsing of the injectors is enabled.

Thanks Bowtie guy, I may swing by the dealership and try that code check. Definitely worried about my cash flow on this, I don't need to throw away thousands..

what exactly do you mean, connect either one to pin 12??

"Connect pin 4 or 5 both ground to pin 12"

Do you mean just do the standard code reading process, pin 4 to the one directly below?

Ok I just did the code check, and got 01 1 so injectors enabled. I cycled through and got all zeros except 05 1

OK good

charge the battery, and hold the pedal to floor and crank it for 15 seconds, and let the starter and battery rest repeat after a few minutes

did you try the starting fluid?

I I were you I'd slow down, and get the car somewhere where you can put some time in yourself a shop is going to kill you @ 100.00 An hour

It's too urban here in Honolulu, there's no where I can work on it. The starter hesitated when I gave it a quick try just now, so yeah, it's running down.

Ok, so I will try to leave work and go back over with starter fluid. First, I will undo the black vacuum hose from the FPR which as I recall is right on the back of the manifold on the return line, and I will sniff it for gas. I will pull the dipstick or stuff my nose down the valve cover cap and smell for gas. I will then undo the air intake and squirt fluid in to the intake, and see if it stumble starts at all. anything else?

if you smell fuel in the oil I would not try to start it might do more damage. don't want a grenade.
like I told you before put the pressure gauge on and turn the key twice without starting. if the pressure drops right away. I would put a new fpr for a few bucks and a few min. if it holds then good chance it is fixed. if the oil has fuel in it change it first!!!!!!!!!! before starting.

So the dealer still wants nothing to do with it. The independent shop i was going to tow it to on Friday morning says it could still be the injectors, they won't know without looking at it. They said if I can't smell it at the regulator hose, then even if its in the oil it could still be a problem at the injectors.

I went back and sniffed the vacuum hose, and I did smell gas there albeit not as strong as from the dipstick.

I'm wondering if I should just roll the vette out onto the street in front of the dealer tomorrow after work. I will then change the regulator, there is a you tube video and it looks like I can do it. Then, jack up the car and do an oil change on the street. After those two steps, start it.

If it doesn't start, I still have it towed to the independent shop on Friday.

Antfarmer, bow tie, anyone else what do you think?/

that is exacly what I would do. but first I would put the pressure gauge on it. if I am right the pressure will not hold. do not try to start it just turn the key to on. the pump will run for two seconds when you do this. then change the fpr. test again now if it holds do a happy dance and change your oil. do not try to start it before changeing the oil without hotdogs and marshmellows. it could be leaking injectors but the way you were told it stoped working. I would think the fpr and there is only one and eight injectors. I would also get a noid light if this does not work to see if your getting pulse. I do not want you to spend more than you need to. if it holds I would think the stealership would change the oil for you while they charge your battery. then you might get to giggle at them as you drive off.

Pull the vacuum hose off the FPR. Then turn the key to ON and listen to the 2 second prime. Look at the FPR vacuum connection for any fuel coming out.

If it's dry it's good, if it's dripping it's bad. Do it a few times and see what happens.

What is the level on the oil dip stick? If it is way above the mark, that could indicate fuel in the oil. If it is within limits, it might be OK.

I hooked the fuel pressure gauge up, undid the vacuum on the fpr, turn the key, the pressure gauge went to about 40 psi and started dropping immediately. There was no visible leaking. So now, am I to assume it is not the fpr and instead an injector(s) leaking? Dam, I bought everything to tackle the fpr and oil change in the street tonight.
