Plus I know the psi in the rail should drop with time, but my pressure doesn't hold. When I shut down the pressure drops from 34 to 20 within 2 or 3 min. And the pressure doesn't exceed 34 while at idle

You never did answer if you used thermal grease on the icm. Or if you replaced the sock or the pulsater.

One more thing on my fuel pressure, only the pump not the whole assembly was changed. Where is the check valve and would that cause the low psi at the fuel rail, it says that 40+ psi is needed for #24 and I have 34psi with 18.25lbs injectors which I'm replacing since they are not the correct ones.

Everything is internal to the pump which you replaced. What brand & part #? It might be interesting to maybe do a voltage check at the pump connector "when keyed on" and maybe a voltage loss test under the same conditions to both load and ground. Did you use only a short length of hose or the pulsator/dampener pump to tree? Maybe check the condition of the bulk-head connector top of sender and the internal harness. Some pumps come with an internal harness. Did yours?

Voltage checks for the "two second key-on demand"

i actually went back to the old pump and still got the same psi at rail

A stuck injector leaking creating the pressure loss? Driveability issues also? Have you pulled the plugs for a check recently? You mentioned replacing but never mentioned the condition of those removed. Anything maybe obvious with any of those? Maybe time to recheck? AF2 asked about pulsator/dampener and I did again. Hose or old/new pulsator pump to tree?

You mention "since day one". How long ago and how many miles ago was "day one"?

the pulsater could be leaking ( low fuel pressure will not hold ) sock pluged restricting fuel ( first fuel filter )

I didn't replace the pulsator, with the piece of hose the pump came with... Is there any way I can check if the pulsator failed, and if it did fail do I need or is it required to put a new pulsator or just replace it with the piece of hose...

Most fail and no longer available that is why they gave you the hose. put the hose on then test your pressure.

So you will never know for sure. Get a new sock too since your in there again. I still believe yours takes 22lbs and they changed to 24 lbs in 94 might have to reprogram but don't know.

The 1985 Fuelrail 17085050 regulator runs right at 38 to 39 psi without vacuum.

ok so I pulled the assembly out, replaced the pulsator with the tiny hose that came with the pump added the clamps and decided to install the injectors that came with the car while I wait for the new ones to see if it made a difference. when you mean sock is it the strainer? Anyway's still came out to 34psi at the rail, pulled vacuum line from fpr got the +10psi. I noticed that the injectors don't sit all the way down could it be they are also shorter in length and could be drawing air into the fuel ports?

When you just key it on without starting does it jump to 42 lbs pressure? Yes the sock could be called a strainer it sits in the bottom of the tank.
