TPS how do you adjust it? I watched a YouTube video on it and he was trying to adjust it to .54 I think? How exactly do you adjust it? I saw the guy loosen it but not sure if he was sliding it up and down or back and forth trying to get it as close as he could. He pulled it apart and stuck 3 wires in it while adjusting is there another way?
If it's not close to spec will it give you less performance? What is the skinny on this? I am far from a mechanic as anyone, please fill me in.
The adjustable ones will be slotted. Non adjustable will be just 2 screw holes.
I believe you are adjustable and my 91 is non adjustable. Get the timing right first then set the TPS. Should be about 0.54V. People say that by setting it a little higher, it gets to the "off idle" point quicker but I haven't verified that myself.
You should get it within .005 volts of high and low for the best performance. Many just set it for the idle of .054 volts and forget the WOT and loose top end. This sensor gives the computer the position of the throttle body blades. Setting the idle at .06 volts is supposed to give you a little edge off the line when drag racing (based on archive posts).

I adjust mine to around .58 on my 383 engine, I use a scanner to view the TPS while I adjust it..This makes it a 5 minite job...They sell a small harness that attaches to the TPS wires so you can use a voltmeter to read the TPS while making adjustments... If you do decide to set it higher then .54 just make sure you don't go much more then .60 or it will set a code...WW

Where is that little metal deal on it suppose to touch? I took the old one off and not sure where it goes it is like spring loaded.
The metal arm on the TPS has to engage with the one on the throttle body, this is how it gets a reading..As you can see in the picture the one on the TPS hooks under the arm on the TB...WW

Thanks a lot I had a check engine code and the one that was on there popped off when I took it off. Wasn't sure where it was suppose to go. That helps a lot
