Default Gauge Read out Question

1989 stock

Is the temp reading on the dash gauge coming from the sensor on the pass side cylinder head or the sensor on the front of the manifold (cts)

on the L98 does the coolant flow from the radiator into the block, heads first, then out of manifold back into radiator ?

The gauge on an '89 is supplied variable resistance from the switch in head.

Coolant flow, lower hose from radiator to pump through engine and returning through the upper hose to the radiator

thanks for info. Does the fan come on based on cts or head temp. For instance, if I want fan to activate at 210, would that be in line with dash reading or what cts is reading

[QUOTE=mlm0;1594199999]thanks for info. Does the fan come on based on cts or head temp. For instance, if I want fan to activate at 210, would that be in line with dash reading or what cts is reading. When I connect mt2500 up to watch temp, there is a noticeable difference between my2500 reading and dash read out. I assuming mt2500 is reading temp from cts thru ecu

-The temp reading on the dash is from the sensor in the passenger side head.

-The water flows into the block, then enters the heads, and finally enters the intake manifold and out to the radiator.

-The Primary fan are activated by the ECM which takes it temperature readings from the sensor in the front of the manifold.

-The secondary fan if you have it, is controlled by the sensor in the drivers side cylinder head.

Your MT2500 is reading the CTS and you should be able to check the fan operation based upon the reference on the MT2500. You could expect fan operation something very close to 226° if stock.
