Default 96 LT4 A/C issues

6 speed stick shift corvette.

I've few issues with the A/C.
The compressor was replaced, orifice tube was replaced, Freon was charged.

Two issues:

1) A/C is blowing cold. Once the RPMs drop to around 1,700, it starts blowing hot air. It does it just around the 1,700 - 1,800rpms. Below or over it works fine. Also when I press the clutch in and shift to neutral, for a few seconds it changes to hot air as well and than goes back to cold air.

2.) I'm using the A/C on the highest fan setting - I believe that's 9 or 10. Even with that, it's blowing air just like me new car at the 1st fan setting out of 4. What can be the issue? Can the lines be blocked by something? Or is this normal with every c4 vette?

First I would check the AC pressures on the low side and see if anything looks not normal. Is the pressure cycling at 22.5 psi and compressor cycling at a normal rate. Are the fat pipes ice cold when checking these things. Rev the engine and check all I have said and see if anything cuts out like the AC clutch slipping or if the AC pipes start to warm up.

The thing is even if the AC compressor stopped the air in the car will not get warm in an instant. It's almost like the blend door is changing position to hot but that would be highly unusual unless it was free and not connected.

It's hard to comment on the fan problem. If it is set at 10 the motor should be loud as heard from the engine compartment. Do all the vents work with the buttons?

Gotta follow directions.

Its subtle but the mode, temp AND fan switches must be exercised full stop to full stop.
