Cracked Frames and Coilovers 87 Convertible
I picked up an LS-1 from an 04 GTO and want to go to coil overs on my 87 convertible. I've read about the frames of these cars cracking with the addition of coil overs and Van Steel says the frames need to be modified on cars made prior to 1988.
I've spent my morning searching for details but have had no success. Does anyone here have knowledge about the necessary modifications or failure mode or links to any information regarding this issue?

Frames cracking from coil-overs? First I've heard of this.
Maybe that the rear knuckles need reinforcement.
And there is a cross brace to help stiffen the chassis on verts.

LD85's front mounts - he mentions earlier in the thread I believe that he might change the upper mount choice if he were to do it again. This is only for the fronts.

For the rears there's been discussions of spindle supports and various issues with mounts and vendors. I'll leave that alone.
