AFAIK, the old pumps needed a pulsator but the newer style, which we have does NOT. Considering that the pulsator is slipped on and is more likely to have fuel flowing past the rubber that a hose with clamps, I would think that it is better from the standpoint that the damper is not needed and we are removing a failure point.

It could in the long run but I don't like to simply replace stuff when I am in the midst of diagnosis. It adds variables to the equation. Unneeded variables. If you had to drop the tank, I'd agree with you but this is so simple, let's fix the car first then decide if we need to. IF you were doing a cam, sure, we can change lifters since we are there and don't want to tear apart the engine. There is little prophylactic value to this at the moment.

True, I just ordered the pump and will wait on deciding a new harness or sending unit. Thanks!

Do not expect any further instructions from Racetronix, they rarely give you anything about the installation.

They will recommend (if you ever talk to one of them) that you replace the pulsator with a piece of hose and two clamps, but that instruction is not with their kit. The kits are basically a few packets of parts in a box and no instruction.

If I were you, I'd go ahead and upgrade the in-tank wiring assembly when I ordered any kit. There wont be any instructions with that either though.

just a question, I just replaced my fuel pump and just like last time 5 years ago, I had to do it again because a line slipped out of the pulsator...neglected to do it last time, but I just put in a new pump and it has happened again...no pressure but I can hear the pump running...going to eliminate the pulsator, but what size hose would you need?

Doesn't that hose HAVE TO BE fuel submersible rated and not just any old fuel hose?

All the parts including the hose and clamps to use to replace the pulsator. Larger gauge wiring harness for inside the tank. I had both a 195l and a 255l on hand. I used the 195l as engine is stock.

Are you talking about the bulkhead kit or the wiring they send with the kit?

Just an FYI, when I replaced my bad stock fuel pump the new delco fuel pump came with the fuel hose to use in place of the pulsator.
