I got a 1992 vette with 62k miles.
First off list of new parts, fuel filter, injectors, fuel press regulator and egr.plugs and wires.sensors---o2,air temp, map.all done in last month.
Now the prob changed lower ball joints today took car for ride to store 3miles ran good then when I left the store it started missing got it home and white smoke coming out of left tail pipe lots, smell gas and missing like hell.
I know it could be few things.did I break the ground wire jacking the car up? opti? ecm? ( and the check engine light is off...it works)
Wish I had a obd 1 scanner!
Big car show Friday at 5pm...guess ill take the toyota
The check engine light is not on
and I cant drive it to get it checked
God I hope its not a head gasket. All I know is this corvette looks to be a money pit

Your first statement is wrong - it does sound like a head gasket, but your second statement is correct.
The rust in the opti doesn't mean much as the active parts look OK. They all get to look like that. Clean up the cap and rotor or just change the cap and rotor. Look for any carbon tracks.
Get a test kit for the coolant from a parts store and check for gasses to see if you have a bad head gasket. White smoke is usually water or steam.
I checked the water level before I did the opti and it was the same from when I bought the car.(2-3 months ago)
when I parked the car from the drive it took a while to start.
It always had a rough idle.
ill change the opti, cap and( iac).
Ill let u guys know when im done.(head gasket it better not be)
Im avoiding that for now!
Iv had a 69 nova 400 sb that had white smoke cause the carb I put on it was to big!
put the old carb back on and all is well.
Im just saying to much fuel---white smoke
Ill get back on the vette sat and see what happens.
Started to pull plugs today cause the car wouldn't start locked up found tons of gas in 7 cylinders.
Why?
Did you check the vacuum line for fuel in it for the FPR. It could be flooding in if the FPR it is real bad.
A long shot is the temperature sensor in the WP is not hook up or wire broken. If that it will run real rich but you would have to crank it a long time to put a lot of fuel in the cylinders. Check you digital temp gauge on the speedo.
Problem solved
It was a stuck open fuel injector.
Vette is back on the road !
Told you guys it wasn't head gasket !!! but nobody listens to me...
White smoke can also mean to much fuel !
Iv been around cars... im not a newbe !
Most of the time its the simple stuff.
Bad part is I did opti and water pump and all but one sensor...that was my winter project. Now what to do this winter??????
