Also what do you have your VSS pulse per mile set to? Mine is currently set at 2002 but I read that it should be 4004 and I'm wondering if that is what's preventing my MPG from working. I thought it look right in the WhatsUpDisplay which would indicate to me that it's correct, but I'll go back and check.
Here is my bin file that works. Don't mind the VE tables or anything else because it was a mess at this point lol.

Anyway, my memory was wrong, here is what bob sent me for the wire.

Paul,

I need to put a cheat sheet together for each year of the 4+3 system.
GM changed it on a regular basis.

For your '84, disconnect the ECM wire White 22. That is the 4th gear
input to the ECM. And is an actual 4th gear switch. Which is why the
trans drops out of overdrive when you shift into 4th.

In other years GM tied the OD switch into the ECM's 4th gear input.

Regards,

BobR.

I then lost OD in all gears so he sent me this:

No, that is the correct wire. Need to change the 4th gear polarity
flag in the BIN. Change this flag so it is the opposite of what it
currently is:

Option Word 2 - Bit 5 - HiGrH

If it is set then clear it, and if cleared then set it.

This is what he told me to set to make it work:

Here is how to set up the TCC parameters to
control the OD unit:

Note: parameters are in order of the XDF file.

Scalars:

TCC - Lock Enable CTS: -40
TCC - Forced Lock: 255
TCC - LoGr Max TPS% Coast Unlock: 0
TCC - LoGr MPH OK to Lock: 255
TCC - LoGr Min TPS% Coast Unlock: 0
TCC - LoGr MPH to Unlock: 255
TCC - HiGr Max TPS% Coast Unlock: 0
TCC - HiGr MPH OK to Lock: 44 (use to set minimum MPH/KPH for OD)
TCC - HiGr Min TPS% Coast Unlock: 0
TCC - HiGr MPH to Unlock: 45 (use to set minimum MPH/KPH for OD)

Flags:

"Option Word 2 - Bit 7 - TCC " option to be checked (set)
"Option Word 2 - Bit 5 - HiGrH" option to be checked (set)
"Option Word 2 - Bit 2 - DcTCC" option to be un-checked (clear)
"Option Word 3 - Bit 3 - TccHi" option to be un-checked (clear)

Tables:

TCC - TPS% Opening/Closing Delta for Unlock: 100%
TCC - Relock Delays: 0's
TCC - LoGr TPS% to Stay Unlocked: 0's
TCC - LoGr TPS% to Unlock: 0's
TCC - HiGr TPS% to Stay Unlocked: variable (use to set OD exit
on heavy throttle)
TCC - HiGr TPS% to Unlock: variable (use to set OD exit
on heavy throttle)

Note: the last two tables above set the TPS% threshold where OD is exited.
Be sure to retain the "TCC - HiGr TPS% to Stay Unlocked" table lower
then the other table.

Zero out this table:

Thanks for the bin I'll do a bit of a compare latter.
I have the same email from Bob regarding the settings so that's the same but I don't have the wiring one. He installed the HAM board so I assumed it would just work I'm still confused, did you actually disconnect the 4th gear signal on W22 because there is also a 2nd gear signal on Bk6 which is used at a 4th gear signal on the automatic cars.

I depinned number 22 on the white plug. That is only for 4th gear on the 4+3 which we have. With those settings and that wire connected I had it in 2,3, but not 4th.

OK cool.
Does your MPG work on your dash and if so what is your pulse per mile set to 2002 or 4004?

My mpg readout works and is actually reasonably close. I used the 305 tbi (crossfire?) bin and haven't touched the pulse per mile. I'd be lying if I said I know what it's set to. Should be in that file I attached though.

Sounds like a good time. Is almost 7am here and I've been up for work for an hour and a half already. Let me know how it goes.

Is it the 84 dash or is it one of the ones that ended up with a later year dash swapped in. That has happened as well...

I think it’s an 85 or 86 dash. But it did work with the original 1226430 ECM.

Hey Greg, this is exactly what Bob and I were talking about the other day among other things on the phone conversation we had that lasted about an 1.5hrs. I didn't realize that the 4+3 was such a PITA vs the auto which is cut and dry kind of thing. This is why I suggested you contact Bob directly on the issues you are having and maybe he has a much better plan of attack on this. During our conversation, Bob suggested the same thing about contacting him directly. It also appears that member "84 4+3" can be a huge help to you as well since he is running the same trans and gone through this. But like Bob mentioned, GM changed the trans circuitry a lot it appears which complicates things for sure. Sure glad you finally received your package and the contents are OK, what a cluster that was.

Here is my current bin file, the sa table might be interesting once you have your fueling close.

If you find mistakes, please feel free to let me know!

Also my ve table is currently being rebuilt due to some fuel system changes...

Fun thing to note, the car absolutely screams.
WOT will drain the tank crazy fast...
Like I fill up, do like 3-5 wot Rev limiter hitting pulls to about 90-100mph, I have about a half tank left.
I'm kinda proud of that... :d

Yeah Bod got back to me on the thirdgen board with the same info “84 4+3” gave me plus the exact wiring which is what I guessed but it’s good to confirm. I also emailed him about his WB O2 sensor but nothing back yet. I was thinking about using one that simulates NB as well and just installing it permanently.

Yeah very cool. Power in equals power out minus loses. It has to drink more to make more.

Thanks for that. Once I get my fueling sorted I will post mine. Hopefully this info will help others along the way as well.

Just a suggestion, but instead of posting your BIN file, just do a screen shot or something to capture the table VE/SA low/high and post it. It makes it easier to see for everyone who is interested and if someone wants it, they can just print it from the screen capture and backfill their table(s).

Yeah, hard part is when you want to copy a large table.
Excel works better but i don't have that loaded on the tablet that runs my learns..

Rbob also frowns on us posting copies of his copyrighted material...

I personally like to see others solutions, and it's nice to run a compare in tunerpro.

It would be good if you could cave the tables and graphs from tunerpro with a right click save image. It’s a bit of a nuisance to crop a printscreen in a picture editor.
Also I don’t want to upset anyone here particularly the font of all knowledge. It is good to compare bins in TunerPro but I see Buccaneers point about ease of visibility. Maybe sharing files via email is better. I’ll check my profile to confirm people can get to my email address.

Incidentally it’s a cold day here today by our standards anyway and the car ran like a pig. Even once I had plenty of engine temp. I really need to sort that fuel map out. I have contacted Rbob for a quote on his TT-1 WB Controller. He should probably offer it as a package with the EBL.
