I have a comprehensive build on my 93 Coupe find it here ( https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ld-thread.html) w/long tube headers, 3 inch exhaust, an x pipe, no cats and some MagnaFlow mufflers. The drone is pretty bad so I'm going to do something about it. My first thought it to throw a Corsa system at it. One issue with this is that I only need the mufflers (they don't seem to sell just mufflers). For the C4, Corsa only has 2.5 inch inlets for the C4. So I have a couple of questions. Is the neck down to 2.5 inches going to affect my system much? How tuned are the Corsa innards to a specific engine?
I have a 3" cat back system on my '93. I believe its a Billy Boat system? Anyway the drone was quite bad around 1400 - 1700 rpm so as an experiment I made a couple of restrictors to reduce the internal diameter by 1/2 of one outlet on each side, this significantly reduced the drone and doesn't seem have affected the performance at least for normal street driving. The restrictors are located inside the exhaust where the tips change to round pipe and held in by a grub screw so that I can remove them easily.
You've built a performance engine. Why be bothered with drone?
Just go to the Corsa catalogs and find a muffler that meets your specs. Doesn't need to be for a Corvette.
Call Corsa up and talk to Jim (if he still works there) and let us k ow how hard he laughs. Cora’s only sells complete systems. They don’t want anybody cobbling up a bastardized system and then complaint and saying it is an issue with a Corsa component.
There is nothing wrong with using a Corsa on a high output motor. I’m pushing close to 500 at the wheel with headers/cats/Corsa.

IDK how well it will work in this application. You could install 3 inch flex pipes between headers and front pipes. These are the high temperature rubber with ss mesh shielding type, they are still cheap compared to new exhaust. The flex pipe works on single exhaust. Installing reducers isn't going to have a large effect on performance. They were common place in the pre cat days.
Unfortunately, Corsa doesn't sell mufflers only. They only sell complete exhaust systems for specific vehicle applications.

They do sell something called a Corsa Crate Muffler. It's hard to find on their site....I ran across it accidentally this afternoon. I'm going with two of the 3inch mufflers and some dynamat.

This is a copy of a presentation that Marc Haibeck has done on the LT5 engine exhaust options on a ZR1. You may find something that makes sense for your application.
On my 91 ZR1, I put a set of Stainless Works headers and a full Corsa from headers to rear. I'm very happy and no drone.

All this "chasing the drone" after customizing any exhaust is tiring, frustrating, and eventually expensive, compared to buying a Corsa system at the start! I'll do this for sure on my next future C5 Vette. On another subject regarding drone and the C4 clamshell window hatch area: I still believe a glass/plexiglass "bulkhead panel" placed behind the front seats (from floor to headliner) would create a drone-free cabin with most exhausts...somebody needs to fabricate this and test it out...not me.
