Default ENGINE REBUILD SPEC HELP PLEASE

I just found a reciently assembled 383 stroker long block for sale for $1500. that I think I can install into my 85. Please let me know if parts listed below will present a problem with the emissions or driveability.

The engine is a 350, 4 bolt stroked out to 383. The origion of the block is unknown. ( front ID tab was decked off) It has a drivers side oli dip stick. The crank is a SCAT 900 series 2piece main seal, and it has AFR 215cc 23 degree Raised Runner heads with 1.5. ratio crane roller rockers. The AFR part # on each head is G02550-1 (A-027) and G02688-1 (A207). This matches to AFR part#1207.

The make and type of the cam is unknown and the pistons are unknown.

I will disassemble the engine and identify what the unknown parts are IF I purchase the engine. If the engine as a whole is un-useable, would it be worth it to use the parts on my old engine?

I can get the engine for $1500 as is and I can not disassemble it to further chech it out. The guys who built it were arrested and the engine was conficated and sold at auction.

Is this worth the price and the effort?? I am almost certain that the heads are too big for a TPI applicaton. Maybe I can trade the heads for something more compatable.

Please let me know what you think.

Hell those heads are wayyy too big for that engine. Id buy it and the motor itself will fit, but the TPI will choke it to death so it wont make good power.

your getting a steal on that engine, heads are a little large but a miniram & some rpms would fix that.

Corky,
There you go. Your 190s would work nicely on that engine....perhaps a trade of sorts? :D

I don't think you can go wrong for $1500.00.As Corky mentioned the heads are worth that alone. You could either put a miniram on it or, trade or sell the heads for something a little smaller, and build a tpi 383.

A consideration, sell me your heads and put 190's on there, and conisder this your first serious formal offer to purchase them please.

Otherwise in February I will be buying a set of 215 CC heads.

ID85

The heads are brand new. They are bolted to the engine (which is not complete yet) (never run). They are complete with valves and springs. I would need the new rockers.
I really want some alumumn heads that will work on a mildly warmed over 85 TPI engine.
If I buy the engine I will have a new crank and rods, may be some new pistons. I want to resuse my old block.

How much would you be willing to buy the heads for??
