Let me put this as plainly as can be... Dude it's a Corvette!!! (ha ha) Really, I know of 500 ++ hp L98s out there and the L98 is one of the favorites with the street rodders because it has a lot of torque ie. 1990 around 345 pound feet of torque. Street light to street light, that's what wins races. :auto: :chevy

I believe that a clean 1990 L98 Z51 Fx3 6speed is as good as it gets :D

Posted belief is the sole biased position of the author and does not reflect the opinions of all Corvette owners in general nor does it imply that .... oh never mind

I haven't been posting, but now that I find time to read CorvetteForum C4 sections, I just had to reply.

I really enjoy my 90 for so many reasons: looks, power, handling...but it depends what you want in a performance car. Like others that posted, the L98 is an animal around town and even up above the speed limit on the highway. It is the joy knowing:

1. No matter what is beside you, if you are in one of the "squeeze.lane ends" at a light, as long as you have traction...YOU WILL WIN! (You will also amaze any passenger, since most people who have not been in performance cars from the 60's have never felt such low end torque!)

2. There is enough power to hold you own against the vast majority of cars on the road (let's face it, how often do you get up to a light beside a Viper, Porsche 911 Turbo, or Maclaren F1? Okay, sure there are other cars that will give you a run, but as others said, the VAST majority of the cars on the road cannot touch you at sane speeds.

3. The 90 is the last year of body style from the earlier C4, but the handling is still world class, and the look inside and out is still very timeless.

I say go for it! These cars despite the finicky nature of them sometimes, are still alot of performance car for the money.

Regards,

Black Beast (the car)

Wow! Thanks for this awesome post, Terry! I've actually been driving my mom's mini van, so...your post gave me a good mental image.

I think I am seriously considering this car now.

"because it has a lot of torque ie. 1990 around 345 pound feet of torque."

Could you improve torque on any 'vette?
