If you want a big performance increase out of your CFI, get your hands on a 7747 ECM and install that in the car. You will be able to have custom chips burned that do far more than any hypertech chip does. :steering:
I installed a Hypertech stage II and a 160* thermostat in my '84 and it slowed down. I tested making back to back runs at the strip. Two initial runs on the stock chip, two runs on the Hypertech, and the rest of the night on the stock chip. The Hyper runs were the slowest of the sesson. Only 1/2 to a full tenth, but why would you spend money to go slower? I sent it back. The fan on an '84 is not ECM controlled. the only difference I observed, was less "hunting" on the OD engagement. It wasn't THAT bad to start with. From MY experience, I say, save your money for something that works. Other people and/or other chips MAY provide better results. Good luck, and...
RACE ON!!!
PS. WithOUT touching the long block, I have shaved, TWO full seconds off my ETs, so it's not like I've given up easily.
