My car has that switch that changes the ride wich is really cool but I would like the car to stance lowwer.. How do I do this and still keep the cool switch..Is it springs? I dont want to cut them unless thats the only way..
You can purchase a lowering kit from a number of different vendors i.e. Ecklers, MAD, VBP, etc. Usually $25.00-$40.00
Lowering the rear is quite simple, you replace the stock bolts with longer bolts that are provided in the lowering kit. Takes about 10-20 min.
The front is a bit more difficult. In most cases, it requires you to remove the front spring and cut-off the stock rubber "snubs" which are about 1 1/2" in height. The kit will also contain polyurethane wedges which are approximately 1/2" in height. These are glued on to the spring where the stock "snubs" were removed. All in all, this takes 2-4 hours...depending on your mechanical abilities. If you have access to a lift, it will make the procedure alot easier.
I purchased my kit through VBP...excellent quality. Although I'm sure the other kits are of similar quality.

Sounds good. And thanks guys.. But how does it drop it with 2 bolts I can probly find in the Garage with Nylon lock nuts and 2 slabs of hard rubber poly. and how well does it work? Can I get some pics and has anyone not bought the kit did this there own..
I dont want to sound rude if I did.. But I just think this can be had for cheaper without suffering quality..

40 bucks is cheap when you can trust the kit. Using bolts you "find in the garage" is a good way to guarantee disaster. Remember this is holding the spring on the car. Why get cheap here?!
O.K. but an inch is good? With these kits you can drop her how far? I will buy the kit and will see about this.. I have a lift here at the house full car and this should be a snap.. I just thought I had to get springs, spindels and shocks.. How is the camber after the drop? Notice anydifferent when laying down the pedal? More stiff or the same since nothing was changed but ride height..
Just go to Lowes and get the corresponding SAE sized grade 8 bolts (and locknuts), then get the thing aligned, as lowering will cause your rear toe to change.
If you can lower the front of the car in 2-4 hours.... that is great. You have to pull the entire front spring out of the car so there is a bit of work getting that out. It took me and a buddy about 6 hours to drop the front of my car and we had a lift. We were taking our time to measure everything right and so we didn't jack anything up. The end result looks great.
You will need an alingment too. You will see once you put it back together. As for a ride difference.... I really didn't notice one.

For the rear, it doesn't matter where you get the bolts, just get Grade 8 bolts.
They should have 6 little lines on the bolt head.
If you want to do it right, be sure to cut your spring retainers shorter, or buy new ones. These keep the spring located properly. Most people don't do this, but I haven't seen any cases of it causing trouble. But if you saw exactly what I'm talking about, you'd realize why its not right.

That switch is called Selective Ride Control (FX3). I have it, too, and love it. Let me know how it goes because I will be doing the same this summer or this winter.
I just finished lowering, ES poly bushing master kit and re-valving my bilsteins (FX3). It turned out really well. The car handles much better and the ride quality has improved. Before, the rear felt twitchy and loved to step out without much coaxing. After, the rear feels more planted to the road. I drove it that way for a couple days till I got an alignment and new Kumho MX's put on.
The alignment may be a bit radicle for the street, but I have never felt so confident running through turns. It goes where I want it to go, I don't have to fight it. I think it could stand to be a little stiffer, especially in the rear, so my next step might be a set of Z51 springs.
Body roll has been reduced even though I'm still running the stock anti sway bars and corresponding bushings. (26mm F, 22mm R)
The lowering kits available from Mid America.....or anyone else are just to much work to get....maybe 1/2" of lowering.......I used one on my '84, and was lucky to get 1/2" more lowering......to much work......for not!!!!!!!!!!
Just my thoughts.....
