POWER ANTENNA PROBLEM,HELP!
my power antenna will go partially up and partially down. yesterday i helped it go down all the way down but the antenna motor wouldnt shut off. i found the correct fuse and pulled it out so i wouldnt drain the battery. (the air conditioner works on the same fuse and man, is it hot outside) how do i fix the antenna? i already lubricated it and that didnt help. do i need a new antenna and motor? thanks.

Sounds to me like the motor is fine. The cable is probably missing teeth - you can order a new mast with ribbon from MAD or Ecklers. This will be less expensive than getting a whole new antenna assembly (which is what I had to do). Good luck! :)

Your lacal G.M. dealer also has the mast ribbon repair kit.
Disconnect the power antenna at the relay under the trim by the rear hatch latch. That way you can have some ac till you get it fixed. :cheers:

try replacing the mast first they stock em at dealer $30. It sounds as if the ribbon inside the mast broke though ,You might have to replace the whole assembly.

I just had this done on my car. What you will probably have to do is to open up the assembly underneath and take out the part of the ribbon that is still inside the motor, otherwise your motor wont be able to accept all of the new ribbon.
