Good news and bad news.
The good first; I got my coils and brackets in the mail today. :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: $34.34 each, brackets $8.18 each. I ordered two interior parts as well. Shipping was $9.13.
The bad; Still no LTCC and no email from Bob?? :nonod: I'm trying not to worry, but I'm still going  .
there is nothing wrong with getting the brackets installed with the coils whilst waiting on the LTCC.

From what DOCTOR J said, the LS1 coils are "smart" coils -- to me, this means they contain solid state circuitry. Seeing these coils so close to the headers makes me wonder if they can take that kind of heat. Personally, I would keep them in a cooler area.

Tom Piper
Heat was a big concideration. (aircraftmechanic remeber?)The picture is decieving there is aluminum under the coils to reflect the heat, and the coils sit slightly above the valvecovers . The car also doesent go above 170' in heavy traffic The headers are jethot coated inside and out. I actually had them mounted on the valvecovers but wanted eayser access for valvelash. (solid roller cam). Becides everyones a critic now'a days

Yeah there is, had to finish my stereo install. But, tomorrow is another day and so I think I might just start scouting for spots to install them. I don't know what it would look like, but what about on top of the Camber-Brace?

I heard from Bob today and my module will be here Thursday. :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: . Can't wait for this one. But then, I haven't ordered my plug wires yet either. Guess I'll be doing that tomorrow. See who has'em in stock.

a couple of pointers on wires:

get the taylor universials... these are cut-to-fit. also, get the LT1/LS1 style distributor tips. The opti and the coil packs us a similar design for the coil/distributor towers - they are more like the sparkplug - they snap in!

you may want to invest in the taylor tool, for removal, and the taylor crimper, for wire assembly.

you will end up doing this more than once, the rigth tools are priceless!!!

I will post pics soon!!! If I have time... dammit. I will try to take pics tonite.

presently, my box is located in the right fender, by the heater motor. But I am gonna move it. I am picking up a slight miss, and it is caused either by high voltage crossing to the signal wires, the LTCC getting interferred with by the blower motor, or the plug wires not having exactly the right ends.

to prove the LTCC is ok, I am moving it front and left... to where frank put his.

I would not put the coils on the cross bar - the grounds are not long enough, and it would make remove that much more of a bitch.

Yeah, I looked at the camber-brace a little more closely and it isn't really that feasible to do. Darn vettes just have no room to play with in the engine compartment do they?? I guess I'll have to copy Mojo's install, hope you don't mind Frank. :D
So the Taylor wires are the best idea for this install?? Gonna call Summit right now and order them.

I just got off the phone with Summit. Got the MSD 8.5 wires on the way. LT1 tips and 90* spark plug ends, universal fit. MSD-32129 for $81 shipped.

Went out to do some errands and I come home to find the LTCC on my stoop as well:hurray: :hurray: :hurray:......Guess I'll be working on that tonight and tomorrow. :banghead: Gotta study this thread somemore and read the instructions a few times.
