Re: Changing Cam? (TheStef)
Stef, I'm doing a rebuild at the end of the season which includes a new cam and after all things considered, pulling the engine is the way to go!!! My "Crew Chief" (a buddy who has done this before) says pulling the engine is easier than it sounds/appears. By the way, I'm in Oakville, Ontario...if you're close by and need a hand. let me know. There is a very good Corvette mechanic in the area who can work for cash on the weekends for a reasonable rate...so you can do all the pain in the %$# stuff and he can do the precision stuff...just a thought
I'm actually in Ottawa, I don't know of any Vette mechanic in the area but I know a few good mechanics "my step dad owns a body shop he has lots of friends"
My main focus is cost $ and I'd like to do a good part of the work myself because this will be a bit of a winter project.
I think I'll have to take out the engine like you said if I want to change the cam. That's were most people are pointing to and seem to make more sense if I want to do a good job with my car.
I might be able to borrow my step dad's garage beside the house over the course of the winter and I'm sure I can get someone to install the cam for me.
