My car threw a code #36 "Airflow Sensor Burn Off Failure". According to the GM Manual this may point to a ECM failure and replacement. I have a spare ECM which is supposedly good (I bought it from a Forum member last year it is a #01227165 GM rebuilt).
Last year I had a code #33 & #34 I replaced the relays (burnoff and another) and the problem was solved. Has anybody had experience with code #36.
thanks

I wouldn't put in a #1227165....they are prone to driver failure. The upgraded ECM is part# 16198259.Mine was giving me problems replaced with upgrade haven't had a problem since (3yrs).Know this doesn't answer your question but thought you should know this. Are there performance problems or just the code?
hmm, well for as long as i remember... my car has always had that code 36... it doent seem to bother the car any, so ive been to lazy to mess with it.
the car still runs fine.
I don't seem to have any drivability problems.
The dash check engine light will not go out. When I clear the code it goes right back on in about 15 sec. I hate that light, I get the feeling it's like a countdown and the car is going to self destruct momentarily. My '69 or '68 Corvette had a light on the dash with a pushbutton button that you had to press whenever you started the car it worked as a reminder to put your seatbelts on. I wish the check engine light was like that.
The spare ECM I have is a 165 model. I just want to replace the ECM in the car to see if it clears the code. If it does I'll get the updated ECM.
