HOLY $H!TBALLS BATMAN!!!!!!!!

Very rarely do I see a car I'm impressed with anymore. I'm impressed with this one; the attention to detail is stellar as is its execution. I'm very happy to know that you've taken on the majority of the fabrication yourself (except that's what I do for a living and I'd rather have you pay me ). One bit of advice on TIG welding...PRACTICE-PRACTICE-PRACTICE-PRACTICE-PRACTICE!!! Especially for aluminum welding, nothing looks worse than ugly aluminum welds... Nice, shiny, knocked over stack of dimes is what they should look like! Very impressive setup! But, you're gonna need me eventually...Cuz your driveline components are NOT gonna like that blown fat block!!!! Cryo it baby!!!

Tony, meet Jeb, he's our resident pro. Talk to him about cryo treating if you're serious about keeping that thing together.

Do they have a vat that is large enough to dunk the whole car in?

I'm guessing that a ford nine inch and a G-force tranny are in my near future. The IRS was just too pretty not to install....Don't worry, I'll take it REAL easy and never ever go over 55mph or drop the clutch (McLeod Street Twin). I hear the Street Twin is going to vibrate like crazy with a single mass flywheel... The ZF doc said it would be fine... anybody else have any experience here?

Tony...

On the otherhand, how much is it to cryo a ZF6?

You'd be surprised what a well built cryo-treated D44 will take... 5500 rpm clutch drops (Street Twin) on the button are the norm for me... 9.90's on my old 396/N2O combination with nary a wimper... Same goes for a ZF...Tough SOB... Bill Boudreau (ZF Doc) cryos his race units...

Complete ZF cryo is $250.00... Complete D44 (complete center section, half shafts, and drive spindles) is $300.00...

PS- And yes...You could just about get a C4 in my big processor...

Jeb,

Would I have to take the center section and tranny apart first?

Thanks,

Tony

Are you kidding me? By the way, what are catalytic converters? With my supreme tuning abilities I'm sure I could make it pass though if we did have smog checks....

How do you plan on cooling it? Since The Big Block has siamesed Bores and just like a 400 block I assume runs a little hotter then a non Siamesed Engine like the 350's or the 454 blocks? Ihave a hard enough time keeping the temps on my 406 below 200F on a cool night with the heater on. But this is with the stock Radiator so Please let us know how hot it runs with whatever radiator you put in it.

Excellent question.....Since I had to move the radiator forward (because of the blower), I had to have Be Cool make me a radiator...$1,000 (double ouch!!!) They made me a triple pass radiator and guaranteed me it would run cool even while the engine is making 800hp.... So far I've only had the motor running in my garage and it does creep up to 200 degrees. Of course I run a Meziere electric water pump... I totally believe my problem lies in the two 10AN fittings that come off of my intake.. If you do the math (this lack of flow has been confirmed by Mezierre) that the one inch inlet into the water pump flows twice the water that those 2 10AN lines flow.... SO.... the intake is going to come off AGAIN in order to mill the two 10AN bungs off and replace them with two 12AN bungs (which together will flow 50% more than the two 10ANs, OR build a manifold on each side of the manifold and plumb it with four 10AN fittings (two on each side) which would flow the same as the one 1 inch inlet... Make sense?

I will do whatever it takes to run this combo... maybe some naca ducts are in my future....

Take care,

Tony

Damn man whats your day job? What kind of exhaust are you running? custom headers and I Think a Dual 3.5inch exhaust to the back right? Has to be atleast 3inches but I dont know if that would cut it b/c when I had stock exhaust it would hit 220 at idle in 90secs, but now with dual 3inchers it stays pretty low compared to before. Maybe that and the 12A fittings may help out your problem with overheating?

Like I said earlier, I have too much money in this thing....

I am running the stainless B&B Triflow (Dual 3") which should be pleanty big enough to support over 1000hp.....This system seems to be pretty loud at least in my garage... It's been a pretty fun project... But now I'm thinking I need a C6... They look pretty cool... Never really liked the C5, but the C6..... Do you suppose a big block would fit in a C6? Hmmmmm......

Tony is right. Way to much $ into it. It will run right one way or another. His custom made intake manifold alone $3100

Yep, way too money into it, but that is the price of admission to have something different... I'm not aware og anyone that has performed this swap with a supercharger under a stock hood (yes, I know they're just smarter than I am). I remember seeing "the Big Doggie" back in 1990 or 1991 and I was hooked, had to have one.... My personal project just kindof spiraled out of control when I decided to add the supecharger... that element changed EVERYTHING.. and required major fabrication....I know this car will have the potential to make more power than I could ever use on the street and I could have made more than enough power (like you for example) with a small block.... I remember when I started looking for a car I found a yellow 92 in Cal. that had a blown 383 with the A-mold wheels, etc.. The guy wanted $23,000 for it... I passed thinking that l didn't want to spend that much....

Like they say.. If you have to ask then you don't understand.. I could have bought a new vette (probably even a Z06) for what I have in this one, but I doubt those of you on this board would have given the compliments (much much appreciated!!!) for such a regular vette. Does this make perfect sense or what? It's pretty much the line I gave my wife... She is so cool!!

Take care,

Tony

Yes I understand you pretty good, LIke with the project I started this summer with a 406, man it was tons of work but the outcome pleased me, all the fabrication, wrenching, parts, time, etc. My parents and friends started telling me that I could have been better off buying a new car, but thats the thing you bought it, But the way I did it I built it. Totally different feeling when you build something with your hands compared to buying it.

Does anybody know where I can purchase a pair of those hood ducts like the great magoo has?
