At a speed like that, it's hard to imagine he even got caught. You'd think he would have had such a lead he could have easily have lost the fuzz..... :beatdeadhorse:
I might get a few BS flags here but in my heart its the good god honest truth...
A quick note ... crap happens really fast at 141 I cannot imajine 170 I'd like to experience it but would be to chicken to risk having to pay the price!!

No B.S. flag being thrown up here. I've done a late night run like that on I96 just a few miles from my house. I wound the vette up and watched the speedo crawl until I hit 150 and decided that was fast enough for me. And yes things do go by very fast. My leg was shaking on the gas pedal for the rest of the drive. Talk about an adrenaline rush. I would'nt mind going faster but I'd much rather try it on a closed course in a non-fiberglass car.
And for the guy with the "ticket" :bs NO way he didn't get his liscence taken away and some jail time if he really did get busted. Besides, how the hell do you get caught going by a cop at that speed?
As for any flames or "words of wisdom" to me about being scraped off the cement or driving like an a**..... I am already aware. I know a girl who's friend just got killed last october while driving his Trans Am and flying out the T-tops after losing control at high speeds. Granted he wasn't wearing his seat belt, but it's still a tragic thing.
Its possible that the car is capable depending on conditions. But what the cop would have done is another story at that speed. I went nearly 170 in my car in New Mexico and no I wasn't busted I got scared and lifted. The car had a lot more in her, but then again shes got 396 cubic inches and a blower assisting the power curve. However in NM I was told I would have gone straight to jail if I was caught doing that. And that was straight from the Captain at the local NMSP office that I know personally.
hell yeah if he indeed got caught with that speed he will no doubt be in jail for the night. 14 yrs ago I got pull over at 110mph in 55mph in my Firebird. The trooper took me to the court house to see the judge and placed me in the freaking jail house, finger prints, mug shot. Without cash or bond I would have jailed that night. My buddy drove car home and get money to bail me out. On my vette I have gone 155mph and still pulling that was done with head/cam setup. Some day I will try 180mph with my new combo blown 383LT1. I remembered Shalin blown 355LT1 575rwhp he did 186mph he says the start to feel funny and chicken out. Good choose .
I dont know one way or the other. Getting a ticket for 170 and going 170 can be 2 different things. Whos is to say too how accurate the gun is at that speed. Going down a hill can give false reading on the gun.
Pure :bs until proven otherwise with supporting evidence. I'd want to see his jail release papers, his attorney bill, and a copy of the check to pay the fines.
Unless an experienced open track or open road racer, I think most people run out of "pelotas" somewhere around 150. I'd also like to see the engine mods, or lack thereof, along with the mileage on the car and the tires. We may have a Darwin Award pretender here.
Note 1 - There were no 4-speed 95 Vettes. Did he mean a 4-speed auto?
Note 2 - If it was to be done, it would have to be in 5th. The ratio in 6th is too far underdriven to pull it.
Note 3 - A ZR1 could definitely do 170 with some room to spare. Happens frequently in the Silver State.
And I see there are three distinct species of replies:
1. The ever prevalent "No way :bs " reply
2. The "well, it's possible, with the right gears and a strong wind..." reply
3. And the more rare, but still ever enjoyable "I once went XXX and lived to tell about it."
Very unlikely. I had a friend with an RX7 Turbo he got a ticket for 150 in a 35! Well a bit more then a ticket. He is one of only like 30 people in the state of Ohio that has a lifetime SR-22 (restricted license), can never own a car over 200HP, and lost his license for 2 years before he could even begin to drive again. The only reason the cops got him was because his Apex seal blew and that car was history. I wouldn't have even believed my friend, but he gave me a print out of his police reports, has 5 pages of speeding offenses, like 30+ points. Oh and his insurance now is like $2000 for six months on a Saturn SL1!

Nice. Thought I was going to have the ticket to talk about at 130 in a 55. Police can be cool though sometimes, 130 turned into 87 so I didn't go to jail. That was on the bike though, wouldn't dream of doing that in the car on a public road. :reddevil
Well, just saying that even though the ticket was written for 87(max fine) in a 55, I still say I got a ticket for 130 in a 55 when the topic comes up. And on a Katana at that. Got the TL-R now.
:reddevil
After maxing out the TL-R at 180, I never want to do that in the car. Things come up to quickly. Especially after experiencing a high-speed blowout.
