Hi, I am newbie here and I am looking for some hints regarding my problem. I've got '89 C4 with Procharger D1 kit installed (450HP). When the engine is cold the car runs great (1/4 mile for 12.78sec), but after a while the temperature reaches more than 90 degrees of Celsius (Sorry for the Celsius but I am from the Europe). Than the engine's sound becomes strange and the car starts to be very lazy. The reality is, there are 4 coolers in the row (1st is the main water cooler, 2nd is the air conditioning, 3rd is the Procharger's Intercooler and the 4th is gear's box oil cooler). But 90 degrees does not seems to be a very high temperature. Any ideas? Thanks.
90 celcius is 194 Fahrenheight. That is the perfect operating temp. The thermostat is a 90deg Celcius from the factory. Dont worry unless you see over 118-120deg celcius. The fans kick on at around 110-115deg. which is normal in traffic. Your good to go...
Dont know about the lazy engine. That is not normal. Check in the forced induction section and ask them.
chriswtx is right. By the way, the conversion formula is:
*F = (*C x 1.8) + 32
194* F is a wonderful operating temp, in fact you're healthy even up in the 210-220*F range (unless it should be lower, if there's something about supercharging that requires it??).
So, the temp is right on target....something else seems wrong.
