I agree, if you're lieing about it then you know you're doing something wrong. I guess a win is a win, but there are better ways of doing it.

NOS Sneaky Pete Kits
The Sneeky Pete was designed as a true "cheater kit."

I have a TTi X with Nitrous.. I tell people.. turbos are just for getting the track... Nitrous is for racing... I would have told him I was spraying... (kinda hard for me to hide my direct port)

You also would not have had to spray.

Yes. Lying about any mod done to the car to sandbag is cheating, including what boost pressure you're running.

I believe in "run what you brung" but that doesn't mean lie about it. If someone asks and you don't want them to know the truth just don't tell them.... "I'll run what I brung if you run what you brung."

The way I see it is nobody's business what's under the hood. If you want to race then race with what you got. The point is to win. If you lose go mod the car more and come back out. If somebody asks you what's under the hood just tell them enough to win. Weather you spray, SC, turbo etc these are all power adders. If you choose to tell people what you have however and you don't admit to spray when you do in fact have it then that in my opinion is not fair. If your going to talk then man up and confess to what you have but in reality what you have should not be discussed.

Hell no its not cheating if someone wants to run you its then its your business alone what your setup is. When the guys wonders why he lost the answer should be because my car is faster than yours. I hate that **** when someone with an 03 cobra has a problem with my bottle well if I gotta get rid of my bottle then I want him to uninstall his blower I mean damn run what you got.

I think everyone is "almost" of the same opinion here, but let me add this little scenario...

My brother has a '03 SC Cobra. He 'claims' it's bone stock other than a CAI. Before I had N2O, he pulled me at +5 to +7 mph. Within a minute or two, he was 5-6 car lengths ahead. I KNOW he's lying because he 'accidentally' told me two years ago that he had swapped drive gears, but he still sticks to his bone stock story. My N2O setup is just waiting for him now. I haven't told him about it, but I will AFTER we race.

My point is... Is it cheating if both parties 'sand bag'? (does the 'end' justify the means?)

It's only cheating if you are racing for money and don't disclose the fact if the other guy asks you. If he don't aks, then it ain't cheating.

Yup, it's cheating.

As in cheating yourself if you don't use it.

Nitrous isn't cheating, it's just horsepower in a bottle. I've run it before, and if asked, I said I was running it. If I wasn't asked, I didn't volunteer the information.

i sandbag so i must be a cheater. i tell my mods when asked but when i race i only stay in front enough to be the winner. i used to sandbag and people cought on and got upset i stopped. then when you beat people really bad not sandbagging you dont get anymore race action. now im sandbagging again and people here actually want to race me again. i just wish i had more competition than modded 600's and 500+whp hondas.

many don't like nitrous. i'm in college and can't afford a blower so nitrous has been my weapon of choice. it's cheap and effective, and used correctly can safely give you the upper hand. it's a power adder just like a blower but some seem to look at a blower as part of the car, and nitrous as "cheating".

It's actually kind of funny that the nitrous haters, and the ones that think its cheating are the ones too scared to use it. I guess its easy to hate on someone for running a smarter setup. I wouldn't be too happy either if I spent 5-10 grand on a heads/cam setup, or blower setup only to get my *** handed to me by someone with a bone stock car running a $500 nitrous kit.

Jon, did anyone had you your shorts when you had my blower on (of course with the juice)

I have not had that issue, several of those stangs and F-bodies have found out the hard way what my little ole boosted 346 will do when I mash the go pedal I do like running them down, kind of modulate the throttle at lower speeds and on the highway when challenged I just go to 4th and wait for some boost before smoking them, oh it is great having Sick HP to do this with

Look at it this way.

If someone knows you have nitrous already, then it's not problem if you use it when racing unless you have agreed before hand that you would not use it.

If you have no idea who this person is and just run into each other without discussing mods RUN WHAT YA BRUNG.

But why would you lie after you have won the race already. Pretty pathetic if you ask me. Not good sportsmanship. I would be willing to bet all the folks in here talking about run what ya brung, dont tell them what you got etc etc are the street racers, because #1 Most bets occur on the street #2 You are more likely to get hustle there. The two main reasons I race at the track and more importantly, the road course. Bring that POS nos bottle to the road course and see where it gets you.

Ah come on Steve, you know that little old D1SC can't be touched! I was actually talking about back when I first got my C5. I did nitrous as an only mod and was quite impressed with who I beat up on. I sold that and went FI, but let me tell you, those two power adders are completely different in many ways.
