yeah i rember sepctrum5. they looked like they could do some impresive stuff but it never came through! the Ultima gusy stuck to the SBC and are only now really going with the LS engines.

have you seen Jeff Schwartz's LS2 TT Ultima GTR?? very impresive!

http://www.schwartzperformance.com/alien.htm

and the can-am version of the GTR

http://www.schwartzperformance.com/ttls7canam.htm

and some more of the stuff he builds

http://www.schwartzperformance.com/products.htm

having said all that i hear that the Race Car Replicas Superlite Coupe has a big enough engine bay to house a BBC! im thinking a 1000bhp Big Block could work pretty well in the back of one!

hmmmm why dont you build your own black series SL65?? swap the box for something stronger and fit a set of proper turbos to the engine and turn the boost up!

brabus have had to peg back the torque on the V12 TT for some years now.

Chris.

PS. or you could fit the V12 into a vette!?!?!?!? lol

By the way Nick, the SL65 Black Series costs $320k! Hardly what I'd use for a project car to promote a high performance shop's talents!

Granted, there are only a couple big name performance shops for Benz such as Brabus, RennTech, of course AMG, so you'd be getting into a VERY Exclusive and high end market! People complain about Vette tax, try modding a Benz!

Here's a couple of examples:

Headers $4995
Carbon fiber air box $3895
RennTech ECU flash $3495

and the list goes on! I guess if you can afford a $320k car, these prices aren't bad, but seem a whole bunch too rich for me!

Good Luck on your choice!

If the customer's got $300K + for a car they don't really care about the cost.

Put the money in the bank, spread it out if you have over $100K in one place. Ride out the economy.

Yeah, the economy is in the toilet, however Nick is in the insurance business so I'm sure he'll do okay.

It's much tougher in the financial services sector, manufacturing and other industries dependent on petroleum or credit worthiness.

....or spend it and help support the economy!

It doesn't appear that Nick has cash flow issues!

Default The Money Shot

Actually this is only the "Black Series" motor, but will looks will probably be very close. The DTM series goes beyond the Black Series in the photos with a more "race inspired" look and less luxury

Here's a link to the 2004 CLK DTM, only 100 units sold worldwide

click on the pictures, as you can see CF Heaven and Much More Aggressive Styling

So that's like Mercedes answer to the BMW M3 GTR (E92 GTR is pictured at the bottom of my post).

I recently drove an MB C63 and they are pretty quick and much better built (seemed more solid) than the C55. I also went on the BMW drive for Susan G. Korman Cure for Cancer and got to drive a New M3, M6 and an M5!

In the M3, you have to hear the V8 spinning to 8400 rpm it's like music to my ears! Just one of those things that you have to experience! Granted it's low on torque, but it does roll out and it handles better than the Benz!

I'd think that for a track car, the BMW while lacking some power and some torque, would be better on a track just for the fact that it handles like it's on rails and has Great balance.

We were on the street, so I wasn't going to drive Crazy, but I'd have to say that if each one was taken to around a hundred, the Benz is quicker! Now the C63 against the M5 would be different story!
