No, there are absolutely no 8 second slips to back up that statement.

A fact they will never admit

I drove several Centri Vettes before I decided on the Roots.

For the type of driving I do they felt weak to me.

I do not track my car. A little light to light stuff and some spirited highway driving is about it.

So for me the roots was the better choice even though it cost quite a bit more then a Centri with the hood change etc.

Does someone think a fast 60 ft = great low end tq? If yes, then I'd like to see how you get off the line

I'm pretty sure I'm faster on the track (I DON'T talk about drag racing) with any supercharged 450 hp C5 than any supercharged 800 hp C5. This is the reason I asked about difference between superchargers. I just don't want to be stuck with <500 hp forever, that's why I want to know if the power can be increased later. Even though I wouldn't really need it.

I'm not interested about true performance on drag strip. Of course fast time slip is big hp but it does not increase my interest for 550 hp centro if someone has 1200 hp in his centro type superharged C5. Those two cars have nothing in common.

If I sum up the conversation this far (filtering bs out of it):
Pros for centri are
1. It's cheap
2. It's common, so I can look for similar buildups before I make my own
3. It doesn't require new hood
4. Many of them are emission legal in most states

Cons for it
1. Everyone seems to have those
2. No immediate full performance on low rpm

Pros for Maggie
1. Immediate response
2. Large area of useful power
3. Emission legal in most states

Cons for Maggie
1. Power update?

Pros for KB
1. More power than Maggie

Cons for KB
1. High price
2. Not emission legal?

The very 1st thing you need to do is determine how you intend to use the car.

Autocross. Better off NA

Dragstrip. Novi, Nitrous, or Turbos

Street. Any and all of the above depending on what's important to you. Cost? Bling? Reliablity? Low end light to light? Freeway racing? Sound? Bragging rights?

Great thing is that there is no real right or wrong and nice that we have all the different combos to choose from

Track and street are different animals.

I have a library of street racing video's that would concur with what I posted, but we both know I cant post them here. Fast on the track is fast on the street at our level of racing, period.

That's not "respectable"?

Why do you think GM put a PD on the ZR1?
Some of these guys are really quick and we can't compare to them. So let's you and me go kinda apples to apples. Your signature page says that your 6 spd LS1 car has heads/cam, Maggie, Kooks Lts, Corsa Exhaust, Elect. WP, and 3:42s. My A4 LS6 car has A&A Vortec, Lg Lts, B&B Exhaust, 2800 stall, and 3.15s. You have a 413rwhp NA/502rwhp FI LS1 compared to my 375rwhp NA/540rwhp FI LS6. For the record - I'm well aware of the fact that my car is not the most powerful or quickest mod for mod. This is a one off comparison. I requested a conservative tune, as you probably did. My car went 11.5 on it's maiden voyage to the track (post FI), while being babied for the 1st 1/8th mile. I was on 19" KDW2 street tires, but I would have gone quicker that night had they not told me to slow down or park it since it is a soft top. I drove it down the track exactly as I drive it down the street, minus the helmet. I could only manage a 1.88 60' (due to traction and inexperience issues). My quickest 60' ever was NA and it was a 1.87. I'd be willing to bet that you would have had quicker 60' times before your Maggie install because I'm sure you were already traction limited too.
In my opinion, stop light to stop light = roughly 0-70mph.
Are you convinced that your car would go 0-70 or even cover the 1/8 mile quicker than mine? I'd like to know. If we both managed to cut identical lights, would you win the 1/8 and I take the 1/4?
Everyone, please chime in!

A4 stock stall and PZero 19"

I just drove it off the line with 1.908 60' and my 1/8th was 94.46.

Only been to the track once

Identical lights? IDK you have a little more HP I have 3:42s

btw. My son's FRC with KDW2s gripped better then my PZeros on the street.

Has anyone used a Maggie with a centri? This way maggie would handle the low end and centri could be "oversized".

It might be that Maggie's I/C would not be efficient enough for all the heat..

Top fuel and Sbc have nothing in common except airflow makes power. A top fuel blower, or alcohol blower could fart and blow up an lsx block.

People expirmented PD with turbos back in the 60's and 70's. I have never seen a centri with a pd but some ford guys use PD's with trubos with some outragous results, "i" saw it start with the 03-04 bras but now the shelbys and the gt's are doing it. It might only make sense to do when you already have a good PD platform to start with. I dont even see a need for it when people with just some motor mods and a centri have problems with the torque multiplication of their convertor. I was "learned" to get the best convertor you can get and adjust the car, but now people are making to much power down low already that things in the past dont apply any more. GTR GUY

The biggest killer for the PD and me, was you needed an aftermarket hood. Deal breaker every day of the week.

I'll stick with my Procharger thank you very much. VERY smooth powerband, 30mpg on the freeway, and major mid-top end pull.

And I'm only on a stock LS1 with 8psi.

So how much hp/tqdoes the centri make with 8 psi on stock LS1? I ask because many replies in this thread are about modified engines and something totally out of this area of engine tuning. I know Maggie makes 445/600 with 5 psi on reliable dyno and I'd like to know how centri helps when bolted to stock LS1.

Could there be found dyno graphs from one and same dyno with similar scales between turbo/centri/PD-builds?

480rwhp 450rwtq with 123k miles on the motor. Remember I'm also using 91 octane so I can't pull as much timing. Bone stock 2000 LS1 long block also. I have absolutely no problem destroying rear tires in the first two gears. Don't think that the centris don't have that capability.

And this is with a Maggie. The 1st thing you notice is the big difference in the torque range. This is what make PD killer on the street.

400 lbs at 2200 rpm compared to 300 lbs with the Centri. The Maggie gets 450 lbs at 3200 and the Centri 450 lbs at 5200 rpm.

The HP lines are are almost exactly the same.

Don't see the Maggie dropping off on the top end like I've heard a lot of guys say.

Thanks for clear graphs. The last one is very impressive!

What will be the next upgrade with bone stock LS1 with Maggie, long tube headers and catback? Heads? More boost?

How much boost can you get to 350cid/6000 rpm with Maggie?

Most of us Maggie guys run around 6 psi. You can do a cam and/or pulley up to about 8 if you want and get up to 550 +- rwhp with a conservative tune. You could also hit it with Nitrous.

If you really are looking for big time Peak HP #s then go Centri or Turbos. As you can see the #s will come at higher RPM. I do know some guys are running restrictor plates on Centris to get better low end but you would need to check with ECS or A&A for specifics.

All depends on how you are going to use the car.

I'm one of the few that went from a maggie to a Novi, I had 505 RWHP and it was fun for a while, I never look back now. It is all about what you want out of the car, Go with something you can grow with. Oh and I get 1.41 60' with the Novi with ET street's so that thing about low end does not add up, If you do go with the Maggie I do know they like the juice, Good luck with what ever you do.
