Thanks guys.

How similar are the PTC and RMCR kits?
How do they differ?

Is PTC still in business?

I don't know much about the PTC setup. They still have a web site but I don't know anything other than that about their status.

Pretty sure they are most likely about 95% the same kit. I think the RMCR kit uses a few different bends in some tubes (very minor), I think his pulley is a bit different the RMCR kit uses an 8 rib pulley via 2 4 ribbed belts. The PTC kit uses a single cog belt. Was told that under fast reving and then decel the cog belts would sometimes float or jump a cog and cause problems. So RMCR went with the 8rib set up. On Bruce's C5 on the smallest Vortech pulley they were getting belt slip so bad on the 8 rib setup the belt was actually smoking. RMCR said they are addressing this issue, and are looking at doing something to tighten the belt. I think they hit about 580RWHP at 5500RPMS before they shut it down. He also, has a 100Hp shot of NO2 to add to the power game.
On my car running 5lbs of boost I had quite a bit of black dust on my underhood area. But he said he didnt believe it was the belt that was slipping.

That is all I can think of in terms of same or different.

Great info, thx.

Curious as to JB's comments. Think he had an original PTC kit.

Default Do the bends loose any boost?

This kit looks like it addes more tubing than the Vortech, it seems like it would reduce boost a bit? Mark are you switching because of the belt noise? I still have it and need to replace the belt this weekend. I get about six months out of a belt before the noise comes back. When the noise is very loud I can hear it coming from the jackshaft pulley. I small spay of belt dressing stops the noise for a couple of days. I think I am going to replace the stock balancer. I looks like it walks around a bit. I had a keyway cut into the crank so this should not be too much hastle. I see some work on this post on the spacers and or shims. I am also waiting the see the outcome. I have had no belt issues except the chirping since the silver spacers went on.

Mine is a Carrol SC kit that we retrofitted an aftercooler to. We did model the aftercooler addition after the PTC kit.

There is more tubing and there may be a little bit of boost loss but with the T-Trim I should be able to get all of the boost that I want.

I am switching because of the continuing issues that I am having with the Vortech kit. I am tired of being a beta tester for Vortech after I spent $6200 to buy their kit. I am tired of them saying "we've never heard of that" when I call to discuss a problem and I know from this forum that others have called with the same issue. There is something amiss with the Vortech kit when it comes to drag racing using sticky tires. Normal hard running on the street/autocrossing/etc. it's fine.

RMCR wants my business and wants to work with me. If I ever have any issues they are 10 minutes from my house.

I am glad to hear that yours is doing fine other than the chirp. You may want to see if Vortech will send you a new bracket/jackshaft to see if that will cure the chirp.
