You guys have a lot more patience than me. I loved the power of the Vortech and the stealthy sound, but after a late night flat bed, squeaking pulleys, lost belts, multiple sets of spacers, an oil leaking head unit(all within 1000 miles)...I gave up and went with the Mag. No, it isn't as powerful as the vortech, but it has been trouble free since day one and makes more power than I can put to the ground on street tires anyway. Good luck getting your set-ups to work, but I think there is just something fundamentally wrong with the design that no amount of spacer or idler or belt changes is going to fix.
Scott
P.S. I'm hearing a squeak from the old GM Stock Accessory Idler on cold starts. There is a TSB for all Model Years to replace this part as needed. I'll be replacing mine shortly. Not truely a Vortech issue.

Vortech sent me the wrong SQ T-trim. So now they are saying 3-5 days to build a new one and 3 days to ship it. I wont have my car done now till next Friday
what do you guys think of that new HP TT kit??? I am thinking about going to that kit.

My kit is the RMCR kit. The SC is on the passenger side, so I believe it spins the opposite of their Vette kit. Also, the oil lines are in the wrong place, and something else was.
My tuner said its a whole different case completly .
Gary sent you back a PM. I couldnt find any info on the FLP kit.
I see HP Tuner, Rob Rayner (sp?) and LPE.
I just want a kit that is very done, and can get me into the low 10's or high 9's at our altitude. I think Bandimere is at 6050 and PMI is around 5000 ft above sea level.
I am not sure if the SC can do that here. Maybe it can be my next winter project
Well, it is because it's new. However all the fitting and R&D was done about 6- 8 months ago. I have been waiting about 6 weeks for a few items. One was my 383 being built and 2nd the first custom turbo's were machined wrong. All the parts are there. I have been told I will get it this week. Because I have a new clutch to beak-in I will have a basic tune to get me through the weekend. Then it will be back a FLP for the tuning. Goal is 700-750rwhp on pump gas.
Qty 3 - .740" Alternator Spacers from Vortech
Qty 2 - 1.277" Tensioner Spacers from Vortech
Qty 2 - .030" Shims, 1 under each Tensioner Spacer
I replaced the Vortech supplied 1-shoulder pulley with a custom pulley and this has resolved my belt jumping issues. The supplied Vortech pulley is just way too small in width to accomadate the stock sprung tensioner belt movement. If anyone is having belt jumping problems, PM me for details.
Checked the above with a laser alignment tool and the passenger side Alternator Puley and stock 6-Rib Idler were aligned perfectly with the crank using the above setup.

Use this link to see my RMCR set-up. Click on the 'Our Members' button in the left margin, go all the way to the 2nd to last name from the bottom and click on the far right link if pasting this into your browser doesn't work. Heading to the dyno on Friday (hopefully) to see what she'll do. Been working on this one since February, recently broke a valve spring and had some tuning issues (was running very rich!). I think we have everything worked out now, so should turn some decent numbers.
I may have missed it in the topic but, what is the ballpark price on a RMCR Vortech setup minus the fuel system as I would most likely get a complete racetronix setup or something close?
Also does it uses a countershaft like the Vortech system?
The RMCR setup is only sold turn-key at this time. Mine will only be the 7th one that they have done. I think that it is about $10k out the door with a Racetronics pump. I am not exactly sure as RMCR worked a deal with me since we are using some parts from my Vortech kit.
It does use a CCW head unit like the Vortech kit and is driven through a jack shaft. They use 2 readily available 4-rib belts side-by-side to drive the head unit from the jack shaft.
The RMCR setup currently accomodates V-1 and V-2 head units in E-Trim, S-Trim, SC-Trim, and T-Trim. In the coming months RMCR will be working on modifying the setup to accomodate JT-Trim head units as well.

Thanks
The $10,000 is the installed price. I know RMCR also ships the kit out for much less. I've heard it's very complete and the directions are very good.
Actually the case on the blower for the Vortech kit and the RMCR blower is different. The cutout for the power steering pump pulley causes a mounting issue with the RMCR bracket. There is also a threaded mounting boss missing on the blower for the Vortech kit that the RMCR setup needs.
There is an indirect link. Mark, the owner of RMCR used to work at SVO. SVO was the original developer of what is now the PTC kit. Mark of RMCR was one of the original developers of the SVO kit.
