Default This is NOT a NEW concept...

Hey guys, some of you may not know this, but a lot of cars already have these kind of FOBs standard. GM is coming out with this NOW, as if its a new technology, or a Mod to the old one. I was recently in India. My brother who had also gone from US for a long vacation bought a used Jeep (sort of like a mini hummer) there. It was 2002 model. It came with this kind of FOB. Cool thing in it, you press a lil button and the Key just flicks out, like a switch blade knife. To put it back, you simply fold it like a knife and it goes into that built in side. It has all the passive, non-passive and remote buttons as shown here. I wonder what GM would charge for this. But knowing its a Corvette FOB, it'll probably be expensive. Anyways, its the same thing with the cell phones, we are sort of behind the Asian technology. This is just for your info...

I love Vettes and American muscle cars just like everyone here. But I didn't drool over this FOB, my bad... P.S: Just noticed the mentioned price would be $100-$125. FYI: From what I was talking about above, I've seen them go for $10. How does it feel paying $100+ (for a FOB). I'll just spend my $$ on mods that make the car go faster, or buy a nice car cover... Also, to let you know, it is sort of spring loaded so when it gets looses or pops out, and you can't flick out your key like a switch blade...It looks like some silly thing where your key just dangles. Imagine a knife with a loose blade... Oh and if you go to GM to get it fixed, you know what they'll charge to fix it, right.... . Good luck....

You mean your lawyer inserted the disclosure? Can I please laugh in his face?

The key fob final pic looks good. It definitely woudnt be in my way but I would like to see it with a few other keys on it.

Audi, VW, Mercedes have had these keys out for a while. We figured that Corvette owners deserve the same type of cool feature, which is why we are making them.

As far as price is cocerned, why don't you call Audi, VW, or Mercedes and see how much they charge for their flip keys (MUCH HIGHER THAN OUR PRICE, INCREDIBLY HIGHER!) It's not cheap to make these.

Besides we're offering a lifetime parts warranty on our remotes free of charge, so no one has to worry if and when anything stops working!

Man, no good deed goes unpunished.

This isn't a "GM product". These guys are coming up with a nice product and offering it for our consideration.

Vette Fan, if you can find them for $10, you should go into the business yourself man. You can make a fortune!

I'm with you brother... I know for $10 you can't even get the basic Vette key made, or a copy of it. I'm not trying to be funny or trying to start a flame. I was just saying what I know. In other words giving info to some ppl who live in the closed world and are not aware of the International Markets. Its the same if you wanna buy a high end cell phone for $500 here, when the same model in Hong Kong,Tokyo, Singapore... is for one forth the price, and with more features that we seem to Not have. But we still buy them, right. and love those big heavy phones, cuz we don't know what's better out there...

IF I really wanted it, I WOULD pay the MSRP on it.....knowing that somewhere else how much they go for. Its not a new technology, which would require as mentioned 5000 man hours. Maybe, GM added some radar detection technology to it...or something really cool. But if Audi, Merc, Lexus, and some other Asian cars (not considered really high end) have the same kinda FOB, why re-invent it? In fact, manufactering is not so costly as the research is. I'm a newbie here, so forgive my ignorance... But I was just trying to see the logic in this... I guess if I'm really crazy, I'll wait on the side lines and watch Ebay sell it for half.

Point well taken, but you must understand that all cars do not use the exact same size keys, or same size circuit boards. The hours we spent were done to check the sizing, of every little component on this unit. GM has never made anything like this for the Corvette and that is why it has taken so long to get everything right. We have gone through 14 different versions that for one reason or another did not work (sizing, key length, unit width, funtionality, etc.). Idea's usually don't work on the first try, or the second, or third and so on, it takes time. We're not expecting anyone to care about how many hours or tens of thousands of dollars we put into the units R&D, but we don't like it when we get bashed on.

Cars have been around for more than 80 years, yet every time a new model comes out manufacturers spend tens times more money and a hundred times more hours than we have. You should ask, them why they "are reinventing it" (like you stated above) . I prefer not to waste anyone's time on the forum, so if you have any more questions I would be glad to address them over PM or email.

I have been following this thread for a while now and decided that I'll bite....Electron blue with a Z logo if the blue matches the real blue on my vette. If not, I will go for a black without the board.

I do have to say though that adding even a couple of keys to the ring is going to make this look based on the pics of it inserted in the ignition.

By the way, I am moving soon, so if this delays too long, I will have to wait.

15 pages is out of control. When you are ready to actually sell these PLEASE start a new thread with the particulars or better yet put me on an email / contact list when ready to ship. No way I am going to read through all this to see colors & pricing options... Very cool idea & I want one.

Thanks,
