I don't know if anyone else would be interested or not, but I would love to hear about the process to get something like this going. I'm a mechanical engineer (young one) and would love to hear about the process, but if you can't until the product is released that is fine, just thought I would ask.
Any updates as to how production and/or the pre-ordering process is going?
Sorry, for not updating you guys, I've been really busy getting all the details worked out.
-- Pre-Ordering will start in about 2 1/2 weeks. Website info and other details will be given when my forum vendor application is approved.
-- The launch date is still set for about 4 weeks from now, I know that still seems like a while, but make sure you guys stay tuned. We're working as fast as we can.
There is a small loop at the rear to attach a ring.
But I am still wondering if my earlier concerns are valid
I like it, but I think there may be a serious problem.
I carry all of my keys on one key ring. The key ring on this fob is all of the way back. Wouldn't the keys dangling 3 inches from the ignition create more leverage and therefore more pressure on the ignition switch?
No, I'm not going to carry 2 sets of keys.
So are my worries about my keys being 3 inches farther from the ignition realistic?

That and price are the only two things I see that could keep me out. Looks like a great product for a lot of folks.

Does not seem to be a problem for my Audi, or any of the VW's with this type of set up...kinda doubt it would be different for the Vette???

This is exactly what our field testing was done for, to find any drawbacks or other failures. From what we gather with all of our testing (about 6 months for 2 studies and the 1 and a half years that I've been using it) there are no such reasons for your concern. The extra space from the present key to the new key is about an extra 1.5 inches! Which cannot add any considerable amount of weight. We tested using regular key chains attached with house keys, other car keys, and a spare just to add some weight, and we didn't get any negative results. So although your question is perfectly legitimate and a really smart question, the answer is no, the extra space does not have any negative effects on the corvette's ignition.
Of course we don't recommend carrying your spare 5lb. dumbbells on your key chain, but to each his own.
One thing I have done to my fobs, is open them up, and placed electrical tape over the panic button part of the circuit board. It has gone off on me inadvertantly, I wil NEVER use that feature, however, I wanted a reversable modification to the FOB.
