Sadly you just don't understand, and if after reading all the posts in favor of the wave you still hold the same attitude towards it then sell the vette and buy a beamer.
I have to wave at other Corvettes or sell mine? Do you realize how asinine you sound?
BTW why are you even on the C5 forum with your 82? And what did you do to that thing? It looks like you superglued another 2' section onto the rear end.
Surprised I'm in before the lock, but had to say something, in the northwest we wave. We wave when riding the Harley alot more then when in the Vette, but we always return the gesture
I drove my car home from Illinois to Florida and I saw so many other Corvettes on the road. I waved every time...never got one back. I even stopped down at Bowling Green on my way back and saw two or three there with no wave. What's up with that?
The wave is something you give, not something you recieve
I honestly don't know if the wave is dying. I do know that I received my all-time most unusual wave today.
I was stopped at a traffic lite, and the right-turn-only lane (immediately to my right) was moving. As this white C5 passed me on the inside, this hand comes up in a big wave...but the driver wasn't even looking in my direction! It was almost like it she had a Corvette proximity sensor that automatically caused her arm to jerk up in a full palm-open wave.
O.K., here goes. Back in the day when there were less vettes on the road the owners felt closer due to the uniqueness of the car and the understanding what each other went through to own, repair, and maintain a vette along with the understanding of what a beautiful machine he/she had. Nowadays you'll probably see more pre-C5/C6 owners waving for the same reasons plus the fact that they all are keeping an American tradition alive. A lot of C5 and now C6 owners that don't work on their own cars or mod them just drive them like just another expensive car and have no real vette fever or passion. Those C5/C6 owners that constantly carefor, and get a great feeling from driving their vettes are the ones you can expect to wave. Once in awhile we don't see each other in time to wave, sometimes if I see a wave and it's too late for me to return it I'll flash my emergency flasher or blink each turn signal once in hopes that they will see my acknowledgement.
Hey, it's just like speaking to strangers, you say hello, hi, or good morning but not everyone speaks, but that doesn't stop you from speaking to people, so don't stop waving!!!

Let the people have their tradition you dont have to be part of it if you dont want to. You sure do get worked up over something you dont care about. Are you one of those people that just love controversy? Its not that big of deal.
Female Corvette drivers who wave are few and far between. They give you that "Deer In the Headlights" look...
I drove along beside a C5 yesterday, same color as mine. Could not get the woman to look over. Both hands glued to the wheel, eyes straight ahead. I guess she thought I was the famed C5 Daylight Interstate Rapist....
