Corvette High Performance Driving School
Our HPDE you will be driving your own car and have an instuctor with you for each of your runs.
My first HPDE I took with the Justin Bell GT school. I did pay severl thousand dollars and drove thier Corvettes. That was the hook.
When I started to drive MY corvette I felt that I really started to drive and understand MY car. Dang I fell in love again with my corvette.
It is amazing how much we think we know about driving, untill the instructors ( in your right seat) really helps you understand vehical dynamics, accerleration, braking, turning safely at speed. Then the high speed runs down the straight, only to stomp on your bakes to slow to 65 mph to take a corner, with out lossing control or make your car slide. Then back up to speed. then going though a long series of right handed coreners that look like a big half circle called the carracel, but are they really 3 seperat corners or one large one??
Learing what is the 'term slow in and fast out" Early braking, late braking?? early or late apex?? which is best for your style and car??
How to drive your car yet keep your car safe and not hurt your car?
This is NOT your 16 year olds 'learning to drive" school.
What kind of speeds may you expect?? there are two sections of CMP which most ppl will experience in the low 100s before breaking into corner #8 and #10 ( the kink ) Experienced drivers will take the kink ( a 35* corner ) between 105 and 125 mph with complete confidence and control.
Videos of CMP very soon.
Several of us will be at CMP on March 5-6.
As far as what is needed, only convertables will be required to have a minimum of a SCCA Solo I roll bar and a harness system. Harness systems and fire extinguisher are not required. However, if ppl currently have them in their cars, like I do, that is fine.
This is a High Performance Drivers SCHOOL, not a race and there will not be any offical timing.
We will have the techincal side of the information avaible soon.

Sadly, I don't think I'll be able to get the time off to drive down from Massachusetts. Of course, this could change. B.T.W., will you allow spectators....a day trip is just a plane ride away? This is excatly the type of thing that I've been looking for. In future planning ('06) if you could consider Pocono or Lime Rock or even Watkins Glenn that would be a definite plus for us Nor'easters
I hope this is a huge success so that it can continue on to more venues.Best of luck,
Paul

To the people who can't make this because you live in a different part of the country, look for a local Porsche or BMW club becuase they usually do these schools also.
I purchased my 2003 C5 Z51 coupe in May of 03. By the end of June of 03 I too many modifications and 400 RWHP. The end of July 03 I watched my first HPDE, the end of Aug I done my first 3 day drivers school. If I would have done my first drivers school BEFORE I modded my car I would not have done the modes. Drivers skill is more important then car modifications.
It is now Feb of 05 and I have over 30 driving schools in 1 1/2 years and I am now instructing at these High Performacne Drivers Education schools.
There are many corvette drivers that have stock ZO6s ( un modded) and have years or decades of driving experience and can drive circles around some guy with a highly modified car and 500 rwhp. These highly experienced drivers have taken the audi station wagon or mazda miatas and made ppl with Z06s and vipers look :bb . That is why we want these schools. To show ppl and have ppl experience HOW TO DRIVE a High Performance Sports Car.
properly. Would we allow spectators?? Yes, but I do warn you, you WILL BE KICKING yourself in the back side for not bring your car.

I will talk to Roc about a spectator pacakge as well.

. I emailed Roc about it a week ago. If I can't make the first one, I'll try to make one of them in '06.

I highly reccommend becoming a member is you are interested.
Thanks!

Not a problem with A4s. I have had a few students in the past with automatics. We just learned how to shift the auto for better performance.
We will have a "Get your car ready for the track" information soon. That will help. "What to have your mechanic check for, new brake fluid within 60 days of the event". Mostly to make sure your car is ready for a good dive in the park, Motorsports Park that is.

Lots of ppl where coming up to me and asking about the event. So thank you all.
I spent some time talking to more Corvette drivers who are instucrtors and they are more then willing to help out.
This event is shapping up very nicely. Rember the numbers will be limited to only 75 +/- or so students. 3 run groups of 25 each, plus the instuctor groups.

How bout we make this some kind of large Corvette Forum event, and make me a deal I couldn't resist to drive up there for? Same with EG...i'm sure we can get him down for a good deal on a driving school....after all, all those rice mods probably doubled his supercharger performance!

Then you can be ready for an all Corvette event when one comes nearby to you.
I run my '69 SBC 4spd. car at these and have a great time even when passed by momentum (Miata) cars. No one gets by on the straights!
