When the car has gotten warm, and I am sitting still (like at a stoplight), I can hear a high pitched whining noise. It fluctuates up and down at about 1 second frequency (on off in a second). If you look at the radio display, it seems to flicker at the same frequency.
Also, if I hit the power windows (both up even when they are fully up), the lights dim noticeably (including the head lamps), and the voltmeter drops momentarily from 13-14V to 11V. But, it recovers quickly.
I can't see or hear the noise when driving (the wonderful exhaust is too much).
Have someone check out the electrical system; places like Advance Auto will do it. It is normal for the light to dim when placing a heavy load such as a power window to its full-stop position.
The PCM is programmed to slowly raise the voltage output of the generator when a load is applied; and the car is at idle (below about 1K RPM). If it shot the generator up to full power the instant a heavy load is applied, the idle would drop, and in some cars the engine could stall.
However, your drop to 11 volts sounds excessive.
