I turn mine on everytime I get in the car, before I move her. I don't exceed the speed that often but it's nice to have some warning in the event my mind has drifted away and I am above or missed the posted speed limit.

Nope... just keep a close eye on the HUD and know what speed limit I'm driving in.

I've had a radar detector for almost 25 years, going back to those old huge Escorts with the analog signal strength meter and the amber alert lamp. Presently use a Valentine1. Can't even begin to guess how many times a radar detector has saved my worthless A$$!

Ditto to the "huge" Escort. Still have it somewhere in the garage, guess I should throw it out. I keep thinking maybe they'll have a contest for the oldest one !!!

Have a 6800 now, I need to upgrade...soon.

I have the wireless Escort Solo S2 . I really like it so far, first radar detector I've ever had. Just like everyone else, it's already paid for itself. And I didn't buy it so I could speed everywhere - it was more for the peace of mind factor. In a corvette they'll tag you for doing anything in my city.

Absolutely! I have the Escort SRX with laser shifter installed and I swear by it....Before the detector I would look for a 'rabbit' to follow but was hard pressed to find one that was driving faster than I was.

I've been using detectors since their inception....always thought the Escort/Passport/whatever from Cincinnati Microwave were unbeatable

Now use only V-1's....may be a bit too complicated for simple minds.....
