Also, There are only a small number, just a few cars, as desirable as ours....No need for an inferiority complex, our C5 Corvettes offer a nice balance of speed, looks, and decent price as an internationally recognised supercar.

SNIP... After a while, I finally realized that it's probably always going to be that way...newer, better cars every year...
Enjoy what you have and don't worry about the rest.
Well said.
i think the Corvette IS A Supercar
the only difference i recon, is that you spend 40-50K on a rocket on a skidpan, with precision everything ... except the interior
the interior, IMO is good for a Sports Car like the RX7, or EVO maybe - that sort of price range
what i mean is...the only 'nonSupercar aspect' of the corvette is the dash (molded black plastic)
that being said .. i think its perfectly satisfactory and doesnt come across to me as cheap - basic black, you cant go wrong
so its a Supercar on a sliding scale - if you want the SuperCar without the excessive amounts of leather on the dash, the door panels and everywhere inbetween -(that vaults the price of said SuperCar into true 'SuperCar Pricing') you can do it ... if you want to spend 20K on the leather internal treatment so it feels like 'the SuperCar you already know it is' -- then go for it Caravaggio or whatever do spiffing jobs there
i like the fact that if 'i am happy with the basic black' that nothing else about the Corvette is basic and needs high dollar modification to reflect is SuperStatus
Dont get me wrong , that doesnt mean there isnt a place for Modding... oh well i hope you know what i mean

Same thing happens to me everytime I visit my parents house. One neighbor has a Diablo SV and another guy a few houses up has a brand new Bently Continental GT..
My corvettes will always be my first automotive love but I hope those types of cars are in my future!!
My dad's 512TR and 550 are both very nice cars but still rather have the Vette. My old Business partner had a Blue 355 vert. Beautiful car but even stock I would take him both on the street and at Putnam.
Plus with the only possible exception being a Lamborghini, no other car is near as fragile. They break ALOT, and really for the money don't have the performance I would expect. You you are surpassed by a stock C5 that can take weekend after weekend of abuse. That's kinda pathetic in my eye's.
I could have bought a Modena when I bought the C5's because my Dad is a multiple (BB512i, Testarossa, 348, 512TR and 550) Ferrari Owner and Rick at Lake Forrest Ferrari said he would hook me up, but
I just could not see spending that kinda cash for the results. I really don't need the Ego boost some(most) seek with the Ferrari.
That said the new 430 is fairly impressive, as long as the repair history follows the Modena (finally a quality Ferrari).
Awesome Autobahn story....
