Default Humbled Vette Owner

It was such a beautiful evening that I took the Corvette out for a short cruise - car was looking good, I was feeling good, weather was great. Just as I merge onto the main road going back to the house....wooosh, a Black Ferrari 355 roadster goes by me. I was humbled right quick. Oh well, it felt good for a while and I took comfort in the fact I won't have to spend $15k for a tuneup!

Just think of how much money you saved by buying the Vette!

Something I learned long ago was that there will always be something out there newer or better or faster than what I have. Since I've accepted that fact of life, I don't sweat the faster, better looking cars I happen upon occasionally.

I was so proud of my first car, a '74 Camaro Type LT (anybody remember those?). Thought it was the best Camaro in the world. Then the new '75's came out with some new features I didn't have. I was a little jealous. After a while, I finally realized that it's probably always going to be that way...newer, better cars every year...

Enjoy what you have and don't worry about the rest.

What bugs me is all these high horsepower cars coming out now, looks like the new Jeep may have as much HP as we do.

But it's still a Jeep. HP is only one tenth of what makes a Vette special. Just think of this very Forum - and the wave and little kids jumping up and down when they see your car, American icon...... the list goes on and on.

C5s Rule.

Worry not my friend. I was in the same position two weeks ago. I drive an 03' coupe. The ride was cleaned up, top was off, gettin stared at from left & right, even had a thumbs up from two guys drivin a pickup, and low-n-behold, a yellow Lambo Murcialago <--spelling pulls up right behind me. I didn't think anything at all. Didn't even bother to look in his direction as he passed! NOTHING was going to steal my moment that day. For all I know, he was thinking to himself "God that guy is lucky to be sportin an ICON with a removable roof." As for the ferrari, it's just a corvette on steroids made in some other country!

Last saturday a Porsche GT3 owner took me around an autocross course, that humbled me a whole bunch. But I love my vette, I think it looks nicer and is much more comfortable....well thats what I keep telling myself.

Had a someone in a late model 4 door Jag X series want to race me the other day. I just left it on cruise control and waved. Since all the windows were blacked out, I couldn't see if he/she waved back. I didn't feel the need to prove anything. Besides, we had just passed a cop on hiway 16 and they work in pairs over here.

Ferrari is nice, but I'm perfectly happy with my C6 - and have a lot more money in my pocket.
