when i bought my this jan i paid 20k(98 black vert) with 58k miles. i thought that might have been a little high at the time, but i had it to spare, plus it was my "dream car" so i jumped. now im looking at prices in my area(ny/nj/pa) and dont see them listed for less than 23/24k(no im not even thinking of selling) is this a summer thing or is this the way things work with Vette ? some dealers are selling 99s with the same options for 30k! i know the HUD and a few less months in age isnt worth 10k,is it ?
I was speaking with a GM dealer in our area who said they expected a brisker "early" sales period for C6, which hasn't happended. Also, not seeing a lot of C5's on the lots for resale. That may be driving the issue in part anyway.
99 for 30k WTF
My lease buyout on my C6 is 26500 50kmrsp
The bank thinks the C6 has no resale value
pardon my ignorance as i have never leased a car. the 26500, is this amount what you would pay after paying for your monthly pymts for the leased time ? and if it is, how much are your lease pymts and length ?
As much as us Vette-folks do not like to hear it, this new vette is getting a very tepid response from the general public. The C6 is an impressive car in every way...except its exterior styling. Like it or not, cars are purchased for their exterior styling FIRST and EVERYTHING else second. Sure, there was a waiting list the first 6-months. That list was filled with Vette-addicts and people who have to have the very latest in everything....but those people are now about dried up.
I cant tell you how many people at the office tell me that they would much rather have a C5 then that "new one"
I still think they made a huge mistake with the non pop-ups and angular styling. For myself, the car keeps growing on me and I might have a C6 vert someday.....but I definitely am not running out to do it. I like the C5 way to much.

seems to be the general consensus.... i have spoken to some c6 owners who still cant and wont tell me that their c6 looks are better than my c5, but i digress :o
Scarry thing I just saw was an ad in this morning's paper -- local Chevy dealer has a '99 Coupe for $16,900. It didn't say miles or options. Pic looked like it was silver (and no damage visible on the passenger side ).

The owner of Corvette Palace here in Austin tells me that the C6 isn't selling like GM had hoped. Apparently its too high of a price for the typical Vette owner and more than that... doesn't offer earth shattering improvements over the C5. There's a reason the C5 has been Chevy's best selling vette EVER... Hard to improve on perfection In any case, he tells me that C5 prices have risen a few thousand dollars and if you pay sticker for a C6 you're CRAZY. He gets them for less than that and still sells them less than the dealer. I think this is the 1st time something like this has happened. The previous generation out selling its replacement. If you think about the price of the C6 (52k and some change) and buying a pre-owned C5 for...lets say a 04 Z06 with 6k miles for 41,900... you really have to ask yourself, "what am i getting." That's 10k for a new year, shorter body, similar performance BUT admittedly a much nicer interior. Hmmm, no wonder the C6 isn't moving as fast as they hoped.
Remember also that a lot of people (like myself) bought a C5 with little or no interest on their note. A C5 is a whole lot less expensive than a new C6 by way of sticker price and financing costs.

maybe up here in the NE where Vettes are far and few, prices may be more. i dunno.......

Check out corvettes of houston's website. They have a 98 with 45k miles for 26,900.
I'm in Dallas so there's too much selection, and IMHO, the C5 prices aren't going up, but they're not going down either.....
I bought my 02 black A4 coupe 1 year ago with 20,000 miles for $30K, the sticker said $34K and I just looked at an identical one last night 02 black coupe with 21,000 miles and the sticker on the window still said $34K.......hasn't gone down at all and it's one year later.

i agree with ya, except for the interior of the c6, the fit and finish seem to be better, but it shouldnt have to be that way. the c5s interior not being up to par with the finish on the c6 is the philosophical ways of the GM,GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME! as far as the looks of the interior imho its seems less sporty, but again, gmo
I wonder if the C6 Z06 will affect sales of used C5s? There just wasn't a rush to scarf up the C6 when it came out like when the C5 debuted. Of course, the C4 had been selling for 12 years and the C5 was an a revolutionary design so that has alot to do with it.

a 98 vert with 56k for 20k is not high by any stretch
thats a great price
