Worst of all, I don't like On*Star! I know its optional but the car is pre-wired for it.

If my ancestors could come out west on covered wagons and horses I don't feel I need to communicate with someone if I breakdown on the way to the store!

But to be a bit more serious regarding On*Star, just because you don't pay for service doesn't mean operators can't monitor conversations in your car. I don't have anything to say I wouldn't want overheard but its the principal! I'd find the damn microphone and cut it out of the wiring!

There is already a case here in Sandy Eggo where the fed's wiretapped into this guy's Hummer's On*Star system to eavesdrop on his conversations he was having with some local councilmen who are now in court for accepting illegal campaign contributions. Nope, no On*Star system will ever be in a car I own.

I don't think it's paranoid to be aware of this. It's a small step to getting authorization to "observe" a car, note that the driver's average speed is a bit too high for "public safety," and start ticketing us via satellite!
I also see no need for OnStar potentially violating my privacy.

Actually I've been working for a solution provider that's a pretty big outfit and keeps buying up other companies but just can't seem to find a way to give a little something to it's employees for sticking around.

Guess the dealer hasn't had any takers yet. Today, their website listed the car for under $14K. With just under 120K miles, I think this would only be good as a project car:

I agree with Ricko on both counts. The C5 has a far more attractive interior, and exterior for that matter. As for on-star ,if you're that lame you should be riding on the bus.[with a grown up holding your hand!]

2 things:
1. Used Vette prices might be up a little just because it's summer
2. The C6 not selling as well as GM hoped---- I can buy a C6(equipted like my coupe) for ~$53,000. Of course the C6 has OnStar and the navagation system which I don't want. My C5 stickered for $47,400. Why would I pay an extra $6000 for options I don't want???? True the C6 has 50 more HP and maybe a better fitting interior but come on, is that worth $6000??? I am more than happy with my C5 AND I have pop-up's!!!!! Plus i bought my C5 using the GM Supplier price. From what I have read no more supplier price on the C6's.
Add it all up. I think those of us who bought later C5's ('03's and '04's) got a great looking Vette at a pretty good price.

I have not seen every type of lease contract, but I usually consider it a bad idea to lease if you plan to buy the car. Usually you will spend considerably more paying off a lease and then purchasing at the end. If you lease the plan should be to turn in the car, if you want to keep it you should purchase the car with cash or finance it. I have been told by my accountant that for a business the lease normally will be the better tax advantages although buying and leasing both have certain tax advantages.
