Balsa wood sandwiched between two thin pieces of metal. Thats all that is holding up the seat, right?

Isn't total capacity weight for the C5 300 lbs? I guess you will have to drive by remote control.

You could say the vette is at the dealer getting the infamous column lock recall and postpone the ride until another less-hectic day with just you and your uncle

Be tactful. A broken seat can be fixed and it's better than hurting your aunt's feeling. Put it all the way back and let her have a look and let her decide if she want's to try it. She would obviously need some help getting in and out (That can be said for a lot of us!). Good luck. Remember...family is EVERYTHING.

Probably won't hurt the car, but it won't be good for the seat, and whatever else she pulls on to get in and out (and you know she will have to). Just say it's in the shop or has a flat tire or something... he11, I'd let the air our of the tire to fake it.

The seat should be fine. I haven't had any seat problems and regularly have passengers who weigh 3 bills. You will notice the car doesn't jump off the line as quick . Go to the dealer and ask for a free seat belt extender (shorter one will be fine) as your aunt won't be able to buckle the lap belt.

Things can be fixed or replaced. Feeling of family members aren't so easy to repair.

That being said, hide the Vette...doesn't it have some routine maintenance scheduled for this weekend?

Uncle can go test-drive a Vette anytime he wants...

Default I don't think

Well I don't think she's going to fit. It is just too narrow and girls that weigh that much are wide bodies. If she insists and it is not in the shop for the steering column thing, then I would suggest you take the seat completely out and buy a piece of foam for a seat and back rest. When I got my Vette I let a friend that’s a body builder sit in it. That is the last time anyone else has sat in my seat. It didn’t break it but something went pop when he was getting out. Good luck

Safety.......if she may have trouble getting in and being comfortable, what happens if there is an emergency and she needs to get out on her own? You didn't mention age.....is that an issue combined with her weight?

Being that large she might not even want to attempt to get in it. If I was a betting man I'd say she wouldn't. In case she does possibly you could help lower her down by holding her arms as she stands sideways to the door. Hope it works out for you.

Since it is required by law to fasten a seat belt and if she can't fasten it she can't go for a ride. Since the Vette sits so low she may not try to get in it anyway.
