Default Non Runflat Question

I was dead set on keeping a set of runflats on my C5 until I almost lost control which is when I realized how bad their traction is.The car fishtailed and took me by surprise.
I am thinking of going with one of the following sets of tires and would like some opinions please.
BF Goodrich g- force T/A KDW2
Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
Michelin Pilot Sport

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The first consideration would be what caused you to fishtail? Conditions and not tires may be the consideration.just a thought.

Thrilled with the Falkens I got from Discount Tire: quiet, comfortable, aggressive-looking (and much more reasonable in price compared to the others).

I'm happy with my Falkens as well, quiet, good ride and low 1.8 60 foot times at the strip, and oh did I mention inexpensive. As always YMMV. Jeff

You would be better off working out what caused you to fishtail rather that blaming the run-flats.

If your tyres are worn, well, all tyres wear. If they are not worn, then whatever caused that incident; car, driver, conditions, will be still be there to bite you again even after you get new tyres.

Not only are they 24+ lbs lighter than runflat tires, but they also wear better, provide a smoother ride (less side-hopping), handle better in the rain, and are very quiet - highly recommended!

I'm on my second set of Nitto's. The run flats lasted 20k and the Nitto's lasted 38k for $under $800 delivered. The Michelin's I hear are great but I can buy 2 set of the Nitto's for the price of 1 of the Michelin's.

I'm totally sold on the Michelins (PS A/S on the C5), I've got them on all my cars except the C3 because Michelin doesn't make that size.

LS7,

I am getting the GS-D3's this week based on: 1.performance reviews 2. looks 3. MADE IN THE USA. I am sure there are better tires out there(not by much) but for my purposes these will be more than enough. I'll let you know how they "feel" once they are installed

Since we are the topic of America Tires Co and Discount tires. I bought my Chrome c6 wheels there for a killer price and will get my tires from there too, I think.

I have the GS D3's on my 1985 with ZR-1 wheels and love them. I have the F1 Supercars on my 2000 with the ZO-6 wheels and love them... If they made the GS D3 in a 255/60-15 I'd have them on my 1973 (and I think a lot of other C3 owners would as well...Goodyear are you listening?).

If you have stock width wheels, I would recommend the GS D3. Since they don't have a 295-18 yet available for the GS D3 to use with ZO-6 wheels, if you have them I'd go with the F1 Supercars.

Life doesn't get any better...GUSTO

I thought WTF, I should have pulled out the Discount Tire internet page I printed out the night before to tell him that they do.

The GY GS D3 and GS CS are ten year old design tire made by GoddYear France. It is being replaced by the GY the CS is being replaced by the RS in the 4th Q this year.
They are the GS CS and RS are DOT R comounds.

Not sure what is replacing the GS D3.
