manual...or automatic...and why?

Personally, I got over stick shifts years ago. Give me an auto, especially an A6 with paddle shift.
I on the other hand have 3 cars and all of them manual including my daily driver. I have heavy traffic almost everyday (sf). Then again I am european and thats all we got.
Why would someone in this world, buy a sports car with an auto?!?!?!? wherest the "sports" in that. I belive thats what suv's and soccer mom vans are for.
I am converting from an A4 to an MN6 because of this. The A4 is just plain boring!
I would definetly go with 6 speed.Since it`s a sports car that`s what u need. But unfortunately stock shifter is terrible. It doesn`t make u feel u got a sport transmission. U have to get a short shifter. For the quick, and perfect feeling of shifting(hurst,ripper,etc.).But of course this is my opinion.

Note; U know Z06 comes in just 6 spd.Have u ever thought why?Think about that. The power should be under your finger tips. You got to feel it.

1- what are you going to use the car for, how often, etc...
2- Test drive both a few times
I love my 6 speed, and it's a daily driver (sometimes stop and go traffic) between April and November. I choose the six speed also because for modding it can be cheaper, for example if you want to change rear-gears no re-program is needed... you are the torque converter and don't need to change torque converters when you up your HP etc.. (okay so you might need a new clutch
) I love rowing through the gears. Also, I like the standard 342 gear that comes with all MN6's... the A4 has a slumpy 273 gear, or 315 as an option. All that said, there is absolutley nothing bad about having an A4, there are advantages with that to,,, easier launch at drag strip, less stress on the car when doing a burn out (no dumpiing clutch) Maybe easier to drive in daily traffice etc....
Get what works for you

back at ya my friend, I want to get up to Ennis but it's closed to street drivers for the rest of the year....
I'm not really modded yet, just vararam right now and some stingers and X-pipe on the way as we speak.
Let me know next time you're up at Ennis, I've been wanting to get my mirror black beauty up there for a little while now.
Will do!! Its always more fun with a group.

You know... I want to say this, but I don't want to offend anybody.
My whole theory is...
When you see a corvette around town whos driving it?
Exactly!!!, a retiree that just wanted to buy his dream car, that he always wanted as a kid =). I belive for this reason GM knows the category of people that "usually" drive these cars. Now don't flame me I know there is plenty of youngsters driving ..... (me) . But in all honesty most can't afford it.
Also This country has been running automatics forever. Many don't even know how to drive a manual. Of course they will come out with an auto for our "special" guests to make their sales mark count. I just don't agree with em thats all.
Now if my wife did not know how to drive a manual or I hated the traffic, i'd have to go with the sc430 lexus or maybe a X5 BMW not a "sports" car what fun is it to shift your auto from 1,2,3,D lol...it makes no difference anyway.
Now whoever said "why does the zo6 not come out with a auto!"
That would be exactly my point why not?
Why don't LAMBO's have automatics?
Or why doesent Ferrari make a 300K sports car with a automatic tranny? lol some of you crack me up...
Maybe I am wrong, Im a good listener but please prove me wrong here?

And I like to bracket race at E-town,An auto is easier to bracket race IMO.

Reasons:
a) I feel manual cars are simply more fun to drive.
b) I drive manual cars better. With automatics I tend to day-dream.
c) I feel I have more control of the car with a manual.
d) I know manual transmissions better, how they work, etc.
e) No feeling compares to running through the gears in a fast car, or being able to drop the hammer yourself. Not wait for any transmission to downshift for you.

is hard to beat especially in traffic.
