Congratulations and best wishes to David Hill. Thanks for what you've done to advance and improve what for many of us is the only sports car that matters.

Thanks also for your accessibility to Corvette enthusiasts. You've been a class act and we hope retirement will give you the time to hang out with us even more.

Now, we look forward to getting to know Tom Wallace. He's got a great vehicle to start with and it will be interesting to see how he will influence its future development.
Very well put Jim, I sure hope Dave can make it to our cruise ins at BG.
Class "regular" guy, as often said here on the Forum.

Best to you Dave in your retirement years

We care. All of us that go to the NCM events and/or Cruise Ins, to Carlisle, have met him, talked with him, joked with him, asked him questions, gotten him to sign anything we asked, had dinner with him and so on.

How often does any Chief Engineer of ANY manufacturer make themselves so available to the lay public? Especially a giant corporate like General Motors?

He shared our passion, our fanatic obsession with Corvettes and all things Corvette.

That is a rare thing. I am sorry to see him retire.

Default Thank you Dave

Thank you for building "The Ultimate C5" and all the years you dedicated to our beloved Corvette. Congratulations and enjoy your retirement.
One of my favorite moments from 2005 Corvettes at Carlisle.

I met Dave at Sebring this year and it was a pleasure! As many others have said, it is a rare person in the corporate world who will take the time to meet and mingle with the customers and enthusiasts at event after event. I wish you the best in retirement....it is well deserved after the pressures of the C5/C6 development. It has been a fun ride with you and we hope you will stay involved with all of us in your new capacity!

Default And let's not forget all Karen Hill has done!!

As a fellow engineer, I particularly enjoyed the few times that I got to talk to Dave Hill and I definitely want to thank him for the 46,000
incredible miles my wife and I have enjoyed in our C5!

But let's give a big "Thanks a Million" to Karen Hill also. She was very much the social organizer in their lives and also did a lot to entertain
the ladies at various Corvette events. The tours that she and Liz Cooksey organized to visit quilt and craft events around Kentucky
were a real treat for my wife and many other ladies. And she always had a hello for my wife and several times they sat together and talked
about families and other topics my wife preferred over compression ratios and cam duration.

During the C5 Registry dinner (above) during the Petit Le Mans weekend in 2003 my wife and I had the exciting opportunity to sit across
from the Hill's and particularly enjoyed Karen's gentle jibes at Dave about ignoring her suggestion on avoiding Atlanta rush hour traffic
and causing them to be late.

And imagine the hours and travel Dave has done and how much Karen has supported him and managed the family over the years.

Best wishes to both of you in retirement! And thanks for everything!

Actually I had lost all hope for Corvette after the C4. I had a 1986 4+3(what a joke). But thanks to Dave the C5 was born and I now sit in my garage and just stare at the piece of work he and his team has created. It would have been nice had they developed a TT from the factory but you can't have everything. They tweeked a great car into the winningest race team known to American automotive industry with years of wins to come. All I can say is Thanks Dave Hill, sorry I never had a chance to meet you personally.

That said, Can you say "Golden parachute." I'd bet that with GM at the verge of BK, the bean counters are canibalizing the Corvette budget and Dave is taking his parting gift in a lump sum. Good choice Dave. Don't run too far, they'll need you back in 3 years.

Anyone who has read the book "All Corvettes are Red" can appreciate how important Dave was to the C5 development ( and I'm sure the C6 as well). He is a major reason we are all on this board and driving the car we do.

Happy retirement Dave!!

Congrats Dave! Thank you for making it possible for working stiff, car guys, to drive an exotic grand touring car! Made in the USA, to boot!

God Bless America!
