I've only heard a few of them side by side in person, Borla's are nice and deep and loud, Corsa's seem to be loud but not as deep (more raspy IMO) and B&B's seem to deep a bit louder.

Some describe the Corsas as 'exotic' sounding. They are much higher pitched at WOT than most. Raspy... but in a good way though.
At a minimum you should try to listen to Borlas, Corsas, and (my fav) GHL Bullets. Check out a vette gathering in your area and listen first hand. Also do a search on exhaust sounds... there are a couple good pages out there to at least give you an idea of what the brands sound like.
The best way to compare is to attend a C5 "Dyno Day" event in your area. Not only can you hear various systems at idle and WOT, but you should also be able to get a ride in some of the cars to experience interior sound.
I chose the Borla Stingers after doing just that. My benchmark was my 68 Corvette with Doug Thorley headers and Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers.
In the meantime, you can always listen to any of a few websites that have soundclips of the most popular systems. I would say that by far, Borla outsells all the rest by a good margin.
Which exhaust will have a nice "classic muscle car american V8" sound, without being too loud for long drives? I'm talking about the lumpy gurgle at idle and etc. without the resonance for cruising?

I've got Borla two-tips, and they're not loud at all in the cabin while cruising. Or maybe I've just gotten used to them. Plus, I've done the sound insulation bit. But I've taken several long trips with no problem at all. Not sure how they sound outside on the highway though. At idle, they're just a deep rumble ... sound good and not offensive.

Hmmm...seems like I've found my exhaust once I get my C5.
I tried on more than several occasions to hook up with people to hear exhausts and just never made it. That's still the best advice, hear them in person. I bought my GHL'S without hearing them first and I am very happy with my decision.

I usually go with what Dave says. He is one of the smartest nicest guys I have ever spoken to or corresponded with. I have GHL Bullets, which are basically the same thing as stingers. I went with GHL because they are made of a higher quality U.S. made steel, which is of higher quality than stingers.
(According to the GHL guy) They are highly polished and almost look like chrome. GHL claims they actually originated the style. He said they had them at a show, and then Borla showed up with the stingers afterwards. An interesting thing about GHL is that LAPD used to carry them, but no longer does. I bought mine from them.
They described them as “the exhaust that the C5 should have come from the factory with”
BTW, I’m really surprised that I don’t hear about using Dave’s cool air intake invention. He gives VERY detailed instructions on the Halltech site. It is designed like the car was made for it, and I think the cost of making it is less than $30 or something like that.
