Default Installing Seat Heaters

I just bought a Peak Universal Heated Seat Kit and I plan to install it over the Holidays.

I know, I know.......I live in Las Vegas but there's a good reason

I saw the recent thread with a "How To" where the switches were fitted on the AH panel. I have the ride control switch so there's no room there. There's no other obvious place on the console to take 2 switches as the other places have complex curves. I thought about mounting on the seat side but it's not the best option. I'd like to keep both together.

Any other ideas where I could put the switches. And keep those suggestions polite .... it's Christmas

I installed heated seats in my Z06 and 98 coupe. I love them! I installed the switches on the seat side panels on the 98 and have not had any issue with them being there. It's a little tight getting them installed, but not impossible.

As for the Z06, it doesnt have a plastic side panel on the passengers seat so,,, I installed the switch in the glove box. There is a flat area to the left and it requires doing some trimming on the aluminun dash frame behind the plastic. I also had to heat up the plastic on the glove box door with a heat gun and make a slight depresion so that the switch would clear the glove box door. I cant see why you couldnt mount both switches in that area.

I have pictures of the install and some cool wiring recommendation if you would like them. Please send me you e-mail address if you want the pics.

There are some pictures of members who installed the buttons on the console in front of the TCS / AH switch panel.

I've seen pics like this. Looked pretty good. You could also consider installing the switches on the side of the console - perhaps fabricating a mounting plate to go over the carpet.

Why not install them behind the ash tray door where the ashtray is? That seems to be wasted space for most people. It would be very easy to replace the actual ashtray with a flat black plastic panel with switches mounted in it. What do you think?

Bill Curlee sent me some great notes on his installation. Thanks Bill.

TOOGECKO, that could be a good option. No way anyone is ever going to smoke in the Vette and I'm sure I could find a home for the coins

Thanks for all the advice. This is a great Forum

Spent the morning playing with the switches. I went with TOOGECKO's idea and used the redundant ashtray. I cut a slot in the rear to take the plugs. I tried using the original door "flap" to mount the switches but the material was too brittle. Found a plastic plug which fitted pretty well. I think the result is reasonably good. Just need something to fair in the bottom.

Now I just need to rip out the seats and install the pads

Default Heated Seats Wiring

Just looking to hook up the wiring for the seats. Bill Curlee gave me some tips but he went straight into the engine bay with his own harness. The kit I have came with 2 fuse type connectors. I saw a member who hooked directly into some spare fuse bays in the passenger footwell but its not clear which slots he used.

My fuse cover shows numbers 12 and 22 as being spare.

Anyone know if these would be good to use. If not, any other advice?

Not sure about spares as I don't have my manual here but I was thinking that the accessory fuses that have a seperate wire lead for power coming off them might be an option. You can buy these at most auto parts stores for $10-15 ea. It seems that they would really simplify things if they would work...

JC Whitney link for clarification...

I used slot 22. The black wires are for the seat heaters, the red wire is for the ValentineOne.
