Daily Driver...45K to 50K miles a year...Look at it this way it is not a good investment. who are you saving it for?, you can get another if something happens to it.
You only go around once in this life enjoy it all you can while you can.
I agree completely..... 45-50k a year is a lot of driving though. My Vette isn't my "daily driver" but I put about 20k a year on it and maybe another 20k on my other cars.
When I ordered mine it was to be a DD, after I sold my 97 Z-28. I have retired so it is not driven as much now. I also bought a 95 ranger pickup to use for hauling mulch, and other stuff ofr the house. I now drive it when it rains or if we ever get snow. I love the vette and drive it. I do not want a garage queen that leaks and the battery goes dead---but the paint shines perfectly.
Whenever I feel like it. Office is only 3 miles (2 stop signs). I have a Tahoe for a DD and mostly drive on weekends but rarely alone. If it's morning, my two pals (Min. Schnauzers) tag along, later in the day, the sleeping beauty (night person spouse) may ride with me.
My garage holds 4, but it's tandem 2+2 so the choice is often what's out front. Try to keep reasonably clean and am careful where I park, but ITZACAR.
I'm all over the map with mine. It's a '97 with 58k on the clock. I bought it in '01 with 29k. I drive mine alot but becuase of the winters here in New England I usually end up around 6k per year. I've made 4 trips to Bowling Green from Massachusetts with it, I've autocrossed it, I've entered it in several shows, judged and non. I've driven in the rain and even in the remants of hurricane Katrina while in Kentucky and Tennesee with it. With all of that said, It still looks almost new. These cars are amazing and I've waited my whole life for one (well, at least ever since I found out what a Corvette was. ) As much as I want this car to last forever I know it won't and I can't see not enjoying it. Low mileage is a gift you give the next owner and nothing more. I try to avoid rainy days and don't drive it in the snow just because it is too much work to clean for a show afterwards but I refuse to set a "limit" as to how much I enjoy the car. Just my .02. Always remember it is your car, and you pay the bills. Take as much or as little away from posts like this as you want. Welcome to the forum.
Cassidy - It is your car and you can do with as you wish, but.....
I guess I should also mention I did not drive with the windows down for the first year and only took the top off once. I did not want to lose that smell.......unfortunately its mostly gone and I have spent two summers blasting the a/c instead of top off fun.
On March 1, 2004 I picked up my brand new 2004 Coupe (MN6) with the idea I would take it easy, drive it 2 days a week or so and on the weekends. 33,000 miles later (1 3/4 years) I can't put it down
I drive it everywhere including, I'm proud to say, Home Depot once. It's been parked on the top level of some of the most famous Casino's in CT and NJ. We drove it 660 miles to Dinner once
On top of that, last year I got into Drag Racing through the CF (www.corvettechallenge.info) and have completed 65 runs with a 12.5 best.
i use mine as an off road vehicle and to pull a horse trailer everyday except the sunny days cause my balding head gets too hot under the glass roof....
actually, i drive mine as a part time DD...probally 3 or 4 days out of the week but not for every errand....i have a dodge neon that goes to the mall, walmart, grocery, rain, sleet, snow (what the heck does that look like??), hail, etc. the neon has also been my moving vehilcle, ive had matteresses, rocking chairs etc tied to the roof, it even pulls a trailer (4x8 ) nicely so i can move my sofas etc. the vette would never see any of that duty. although, i had it as my sole vehicle when i bought my home theater stuff a couple of years ago and i had to drive home with the hatch ajar....

I use it to make my garage look good when it's raining outside. On clear, dry days, it's used every chance I get.
Actually, it's coming out this Sunday rain or shine, for a cruise with some local Vette buddies. We're getting "Corvette Cabin Fever" up here in the wet Northwest...
I have an 04 coupe which now has 36k+ on it in only 18 months. Obviously, I say drive it. It is an awsome road trip car. It has been between OH and CA three trips now. It sees the rain and occasionally some snow. It does not like, but will tolerate dirt roads. Move the passenger seat up and your mountain bike will fit in the back. Brought home my dining room table from IKEA in the back. Very versital.
As for the camp which is afraid it will wear out, how many other cars are out there which you can still buy every single part down to the smallest piece of trim which is long out of production. Face it, if something breaks or wears out on your C5, it will be possible to replace it. And all the road dirt washes up and waxes up nicely.
