00 with 57K on the clock. I drive it to work everyday. I eat in it, drink in it. If it rains, it gets dirty and wet. I even put my wet shoes on the Lloyds mats. It is a great driver and I NEVER get home from work in a bad mood, all of the crap from the day just melts away on the drive home.
As a race car. As therapy. As an escape. As a fountain of youth. As an object of pure pleasure. As much as I can. As a place to bend the ole lady over.
I drive mine to work occasionally and go on trips in it but it isn't my DD. I try to keep it as clean as I can, but if I get caught in rain or have to go somewhere while it is wet I just clean it up afterwards. I like to show the car, but I'm not going to win any awards so I don't have to keep it in pristine shape. I got it to have fun with and sitting in the garage all the time or putting extreme limits on when I can get the car out of the garage wouldn't be very fun. I'd love to have one as a DD, but I keep the Trailblazer for hauling stuff and it is also a little cheaper to insure as my primary vehicle.
My intentions were to drive it only on the weekends but that didn't last but one weekend. Have had the vette for twenty one months and have put 26,000 miles on her. Lately i have been trying to keep her in the garage and drive my truck... But, again it has only been a week...Must admit i am an addict. And no i don't want help. Just admitting to it
I'm new to the C5 scene. I am going to purchase a 98 C5 that has averaged 11k miles a year for a new DD. I am young, work part time and attend college. I cant afford a newer low mileage car so I am picking up something entry level that has been well kept for my commuter, a kick *** commuter at that.
Why buy a car if your not going to drive it? Why buy a vette if your not going to enjoy it?
I've got an F-150 for a DD. I work a week on / week off and drive the truck to work and the car on my off week, unless the weather is bad.
'04 with 6500 miles (had it about 18 months), so not a lot of miles. My daughter asked me the other day if the windshield wipers work, and all I could say is "I guess they do sweetie, but I'm not really sure...."
Our '88 Vert with 18k miles is the "fun in the sun" weekend car.
Our '01 Vert with 87K miles is our "rain car" ie we take it everywhere and do everything with it as long as there is no snow or ice on the road....
I'm 59 and we have a 99 arctic white coupe A4. When we bought it about 14 months ago (on ebay from a guy in FL), it had 30K miles. It now has 44,600. My goal is to put about 10K/year on it. Logged 9,500 in 2005. Being in PA we don't drive it too much Nov-Mar so that allows us to have more miles to use during the nice weather. (We DO drive it in the winter on weekends when the weather is good and there's no salt, snow, ice on the roads). We also take 5-6 road trips a year to the shore (Ocean Cit, MD), etc.
Our next door neighbor has an 87 coupe and only has about 30K on it. Needless to say his philosophy is different than ours. Theirs sits in the garage most of the time collecting dust.
