top speed
I was just reading the thread about what you would do to have improved the c5 and top speed was thrown in. This leads me to ask how fast have you gone in your vette and for those who mod the $%#! out of you car what is your cars top speed ?

Nobody on the forum has ever exceeded the posted speed limit on public highways. 
At the track, the speed of light is the [current known] limit.
I know there are some folks on the forum that are attempting to test that limit. Nobody has reached it yet, but some are getting close.

"Not so professional driver on a closed course, do not attempt this at home", now that we have the legalities taken care of, 176mph. Front end gets very light. Need some winglets on the front, some rear spoiler and a vented hood to let the air escape. Car had plenty more in it, I just didn't!

UP in the north western part of the state there aren't as many deer, now if you travel toward what they call the "hill country" Llano-Austin area it is real bad but around here between Abilene and Haskell area not as bad

165 mph on I-10 headed to Beaumont. Running a BMW 740I. Started to pull away from him at 130 and I just couldn't take my foot of the gas. I don't think I will do that again. I thought about it after the fact, and decided it is just to dangerous.

I would only exceed the speed limit by an unreasonable amount in a defensive maneuver to evade a hostile pursuer (exempting law enforcement, naturally), so I'm glad to know that no electronic speed controls seem to be placed upon our C5's.
I also own a Jaguar 8-cylinder S Type with a reported top speed of 150 MPH -- however it is electronically limited to 123 MPH or some such nonsense.

162 on I-10 headed to Houston. Stupid or not--I did it--everyone has their opinion and I think they are entitled to it. Only mod is the corsa. Was coming up on traffic so I let off.
