Default Removing vinyl stripes?

For anyone who has done this do you have tips for me. I plan on using a hair dryer and just pulling them off. I don't want to damage the paint in any way. Any help would be great.

Your plan sounds like a good one. Use a hairdryer to soften the material and adhesive and pull the graphic back over itself. Keep the heat and the pressure steady but not too much and you should be good. Just be patient.

talon90's suggestion is right on the money. We do this with aircraft frequently in my business using a heat gun. You can't do any harm with a blow dryer. You won't have any problems. It just takes some time

Hopefully, the vinyl is a high grade strippable product. Many of the newer vinyls are rated strippable for up to 5 years. Seeing that it is relatively new, it should come off easily. Warm it up, pick at it very carefully, and pull it back at 180 degrees if the material will hold together. With luck the adhesive will pull with the decal. If it doesn't, try more or less heat. Some times warming the surface completely and waiting for the vinyl to cool slightly helps the adhesive stay with the vinyl. If the vinyl is to warm compared to the surface the adhesive will let loose of the vinyl and stay. If adhesive stays on you may need to use solvents to remove it. Mineral spirits are mild, most paints will tolerate it. Some of the oem paints can even handle lacquer thinner. There are citrus based removers, goo removers, and even WD40 will work for small amounts. Make sure you test in an inconspicuous place as paint damage can occur. You may need to buff the area after removal of the vinyl. There are so many variables. How do I know? I install and remove large format graphics on hundreds of commercial trucks each year. We are currently struggling with some Avery material custom printed by Modagraghics. It is virtually impossible to remove with out severe damage to the surface. Talk about a PITA! If you have problems free to PM me, I will try to help.

First, I agree with the comments above comepletely.
The only other thing I would be curious about is a color diff from under the decal to rest of car. What color is your car and what type of vinyl was the graphic. If it was a cross-linked polymer, hopefully you wont have a color diff underneath (kinda like what bras do for you)
Even though its only been on for 5mos, it all depends what the UV exposure has been.
Im just scared when you take it off, you will see an impression still there, and possibly only see it in angles of sunlight.
Hope it goes well !!

I guess I was fishing for a horror story about someone removing them and having problems. It sounds pretty straight forward.

I'm putting my engine back together on Saturday, so bring it down and we'll gently apply the hair dryer to it and get it off.
