Bought my first at 25. My current car is noly my fourth but have never been without one since the first. They have been great cars. Recommended at any age.
I'd say something like... "F you.. it's my money and my life."
But I am a jerk that way.
I take a more considerate approach, realizing that others just may not be as fortunate as I, may have other priorities than I, may have other responsibilities than I...........then I tell them to BL()W ME!
I learned to drive in my Dad's 62'. Been in love with Corvettes ever since. Two years ago, at 55, I finally realized my life long dream, and bought myself a Torch Red 03' coupe. Since that day, I've joined a Corvette club, made some of the best friends a person could possibly ask for, and STILL cannot wipe the grin off my face everytime I drive it! For me, the comments have always been positive. "Nice car", "beautiful ride", etc. I don't worry about what people think. I'm truly enjoying owning this car, and if anyone thinks I'm compensating or going through a mid-life crisis, so be it! I'm LOVIN' it!!!
At age 21 I almost bought a new '66. Then stayed on the sidelines with various domestic and imports until last year after wife got possessive about her Lexus vert. Now I have my vert with 6spd that she can't drive.
Midlife crisis - too late for that. I only feel old getting in and out (no double entendre).

Never said I could AFFORD one!!! But hey, life is for living and you can't take it with you.
That's partially it. I CAN afford a Vette now, but it wasn't until I got divorced 3 years ago that I realized that this is the first time in 15 years that I have had to have room to haul 5 people in my car. One son is married with a daughter of his own, one son is in college in Ft. Lauderdale, my 19 year old daughter lives with her mother. There's just me to worry about now. Yee-ha! BTW: I'll be 41 in March.
Previously I had a Bonneville SSEi & a 300M - both 4 doors, but reasonably quick.

The best question asked me was:
Q: Mid life crisis, eh? Now all you need is a 28 year old blonde!
A: No mid life crisis...and I do have one of those...my daughter!!
At the time I was 59 and my blonde daughter was 28!! That comeback shut him up!!
It is none of their business how old or young you are.
If the whiteshoe is such a horses *** as to attempt to leverage
a potential purchase against a customers age, find another
place to buy from.
My wife got that c**p and also gender was played on trade in
of my 96 coupe, so she walked, they lost a sale and life went on.

Stop discussing and justifying your interest. Talk to them about golf or mutual funds. Enjoy your passion whatever it is, be it young women, corvettes, bikes, racing, sking, golf, sailing, football, baseball, hockey, etc. etc. You don't have to justify anything to anyone. If they ask those questions they are in a different place and will never understand. No answer is required.
Harley had a great ad a while back where a kid was playing with a toy harley with his grand dad. The grand dad said oh that's a Harley. Kid asks if grand dad had a harley. Grand dad says "No I bought siding instead". Kid says "I'm going to play with grand ma".
If you don't want to run with the big dogs sit on the porch. Save the wave!
