Wow, that's a lot of instructions and technique to take in just for a burnout. I have an A4 with 2.73's. Just turn off the traction control and floor it. No brakes, no line lock, just engine. Can smoke them all the way down the street if I wanted to. I don't though, I prefer to wear out my tires the old fashioned way, drive it.

You leave it in drive or do you drop to a lower gear to do this?
1. Make sure the car is in Comp Mode otherwise the car will stall
2. try to get your DRs wet - if they are cold you should not have a problem
3. Rev engine to about 3-4K
4. drop clutch (do not and I repeat - do not ride the clutch - let it out all the way - right away)
5. move your clutch foot over to the brake and lightly push the brake down to lock the front tires
6. watch your RPMs to make sure that you stay in the 5K+ range without hitting the rev limiter.
7. when done slowly take your foot off the brake and then the gas to allow the car to roll out. When you slow down push the clutch back in.
As a reminder at the end of the burnout with everything still spinning really really fast you do not want to push that clutch in. Things will break.
FYI - if you car does not have the DTE brace or the hardened output shaft I do not recommend doing burnouts with DRs especially DRs that are dry or somewhat heated.
Oh yeah, forget to tell you. You A4's can't do a burnout. A4's are for women.
Go buy a 6-speed, get your ***** back from your wife, and come back when you've driven it a few times with out killing it.

ya... my first playing around...I thoought the Vette would act like my Super Bee...Traction control took care of that thought...It stalled right out once I held the brake and tried to increase the rpm...ha. And I thought it would be east to spin those tires...computer said no.
i turn all driving aids off when i do my burnouts. ive goofed before and left traction control on....stall. ive even put it in competative and attempted a doughnut... swung around 3 feet and revs were diving fast luckily i saved it and my ego . im going to pick up a linelock because i hate knowing im riding the rear brakes to hold it. at the track i just pop the clutch and ride it out 10 feet only to clean my tires and stuff.

lol what a great post to see after my ride home tonight... It's wet out with all this rain... I did a nice burn out... I got to shift into 2nd while still burning out and then I cut into a power slide... followed through into a donut... reversed the donut let off the gas and came to a stop. It was fun... at 1:30am on a empty 4 lane road. I'm getting my new tires and rims soon. That means I can burn the old ones dry!! I've got a buddy who will be taking photos and hi-deff video of some sweet long burnouts. Maybe some fire as well. I've done lots of local "street" videos in the San Jose area.. but never with my car. It should be fun and safe of corse. In a closed parking lot. Can't wait!!

Yeah, but we, A4 guys, still have the fastest 1/4 mile cars. Now whos got bigger *****?
OMG people are getting on someone's case for asking how to do a burn out. I could see if he was wasting your money, but WTF it is his money and he can spend it however he wants.
BTW - $1300 is for 4 tires not just the 2 rear ones. If you are spending $1300 for 2 tires then who is wasting money?
A set of rear BFG DRs that were made for the 1/4 mile and for burning out cost $300.00 so he can do this 4 times for what you spend on tires and still have $100 left for gas.
I think there are a few members that would benefit from the infamous "stick in tush" removal process.

The one by CarTec (probably the best for a C5) is about $260 shipped. Then figure 1-2 hours for install depending on how experienced the installer is. There is a great write-up for a step by step install around here somewhere.
