Default Jacking puc question

When using jacking pucs, do you install them or do you only put them on when jacking the car?

I'm new to this so bare with me.

I'm new too but my take on it is, use 'em only when on a lift or jacking unless you have the BMW ones that snap into place. I could be wrong. Shoot me.

So then it would be alright to just get 2? Wouldn't you just need 4 if you plan to jack up the car on all 4 corners?

Don't leave them in full time. ALways the chance you can bottom them out, especially if you're lowered. You'll need all four if you're taking her in for service and they lift it. They are a cheap safety measure so get the four. Alternatively, take a look at A&A's Frame Savers. IMHO this is the better way to go. More expensive yes but you no longer have to worry about

So the frame savers allow you to jack the car up?

They should be removed after each use.

I just checked A&A's website. The frame savers are tiny wheels under the front bumper. Did you mean something else?

Mike sorry for the confusion Go here:

https://www.aandacorvette.com/cart/s...sp?MainCatID=5

Look at information for "Rocker Savers"
The Frame saves (The wheels) are a great functional enhancment as well, which will help save the front frame from scraping.

I've got four of the BMW pucks in mine. I'm also lowered on stock bolts. I wanted pucks that would be in all the time. If I ever have a break down they are with the car- not in my garage.

Wouldn't I have to jack the car up first in order to install the frame rails?

www.bavauto.com jack support-E36 P/N51 71 1 960 752 I paid $6.95 each two years ago. I put a tiny dab of liquid nails on each one to make sure they didn't rattle. 22,000 miles and no problems. You can't see them unless you lean way over. Their sides are tapered so they won't catch on anything.

I use the BMW pucks too. Good idea about the liquid nails though. But I've never heard my pucks rattle when I've been in the car.

Mine are not put on the car unless I need to jack it up. They stay in one of the rear storage bins otherwise.

Here the low profile BMW pucks and the front frame saver wheels. The BMW pucks, are great I've had them on for 3 yrs and used a number of times with no issues.

From what I have seen of the "rock savers", don't they have built-in jacking/lifting pads that basically cover up the holes you would put pucks in?

They're nice, but what happens when you need to have the car towed. I understand that is where they hook up to winch the car up onto the rollback.

Hey Sponge Vette, are the frame savers still effective with that front lip?
